As of Wednesday, January 13th, 2010, Kobe Bryant has tallied up 24,930 points which places him Number 15 on the all-time NBA Scoring List.

So what does the title "13,458" mean?

It simply means this is the magic number that Kobe is chasing to become the all-time NBA leading scorer. However, this is a lot easier to say then do. At the age of 31, Kobe is facing the race against time. However, if he is to remain healthy, which lately, he is dealing with finger issues and now back spasms, Kobe could reach this goal by the end of the:

2009-2010 Season: If he scores 306 PPG. (31 Years of age)
2010-2011 Season: If he scores 107 PPG. (32 Years of age)
2011-2012 Season: If he scores 65 PPG. (33 Years of age)
2012-2013 Season: If he scores 47 PPG. (34 Years of age)
2013-2014 Season: If he scores 37 PPG. (35 Years of age)
2014-2015 Season: If he scores 30 PPG. (36 Years of age)
2015-2016 Season: If he scores 26 PPG. (37 Years of age)

I will stop here and point out a couple of things to consider Kobe's possibility of reaching this landmark.

First point, Michael Jordan retired at the age of 40, and like Kobe does now, Michael Jordan kept his body in great condition during his NBA playing years. Kobe is able to reach Kareem's scoring record by the age of 37 if he averages 26 PPG and this doesn't include the playoffs.

Second Point, if the Lakers are to make the playoffs from this point to the 2014-15 season, this would save Kobe having to play another year to reach this scoring record. But who's to stop him from playing anyhow.

As basketball fans are already of aware of, Kobe has recenlty passed Patrick Ewing, putting him at Number 15 and is now on the verge of passing Jerry West in about 9 more games if he maintains his average.
