Will Vince Young reclaim his starting job? If so, when and how?
November 9, 2008  10:58 PM ET

Yes, but probably not this year (unless Collins gets hurt). I doubt Tennessee would let Collins leave via free agency after this year, but I do think there's a good chance he could get hurt sometime in the next season.

On another note, I think Vince Young could really benefit from sitting on the sidelines and learning. Everyone ripped Kyle Orton after he played right away his rookie year, then he spent a couple years on the bench watching and learning and now look at him. It could happen with Vince, too.

Young could become a great QB, but he was thrust into the starters position too soon. Now that Collins has the starters position, he can learn from him, and get his legs back underneath him.

Whats the point in having one of the best offensive lines that can protect a pocket better that nay other team if your quaterbacks best asset is to run all over the place. We need a good pocket passer who we dont need to invest too much cap in ie, Kerry. Vince can be a good quarterback but maybe he would suit a different team better

We have one of the best offensive lines in football who are great at maintaining a pocket. Why would you need a quarterback who runs all over the place. Vince could be a great quarterback but maybe he would suit another team better

I think the Vince Young era is over all ready. Because he hasn't been that great of QB so far through his career. You answer Vince Young would not have the same impact on this team and be undefeated right now. They would probably have a losing record. Plus what happened before his injury will probably not make it the same.

Vince Young actually wasn't as bad as you make him out to be. Remember his rookie year when he took the Titans, an 0-5 team back to 8-8 and almost made the playoffs. And set the record for most rushing yards by a rookie quarterback. I think Vince would still be as good if they just let him be himself and quit trying to force him to be this great pocket passer. The guys got amazing talent but they're forcing him to do things he's not comfortable with.

Nothing will change if they keep winning!

True but he doesn't have the speed that Vick has, when rush out of the pocket. I think the best thing for him is to sit back and learn the game first. It work well for Phillip Rivers.

Nope he will remain in the sideline holding the clip board till he learns how to hit receivers in stride!

November 18, 2008  10:22 AM ET

Chris Simms will be their future if Vince keeps pouting on the sideline.

November 19, 2008  11:01 PM ET

Vince Young will never be a great NFL quarterback because he already thinks he is. This is the same guy who criticized Donovan McNabb for talking about some of the obstacles black quaterbacks face.......and then blame the media/fans less than a year later for being overly criticle of him because he's black.

Sincerely,

Mack Brown

Vince Young may not have the speed of Michael Vick but he is better at breaking tackles and he is alot bigger so that makes him harder to bring down. This year could help Young but to me it seems while hes on the sideline hes off by himself in his own world. When Collins comes off the field you see him and Heimedinger going over plays together and even the third string quarterback Chris Simms is there watching and listnening but Young is usually nowhere near them. So I really dont know if he is trying to learn so I dont know if he is even going to learn from this year which is sad because if he did finally learn how to make the reads he could be a great quarterback

His stint as a NFL quarterback will be short. Remember Randal Cunningham??? Two alike Good for a short career, a real short one and thats all.

Vince Young is an athlete that can change the way football is played. He is the future of our Titans team.... and if you think that Bud Adams would give just anybody a huge contract and let him disappear on the sideline, you're gravely mistaken. He will return, and he will be the athlete that we drafted. Be patient, he needs to learn a few things about the nfl. As far as being confident, and thinking he's a great quarterback - any nfl player has to think that way in order to compete at such a high level. A good offensive line is an absolute must in the nfl if you want anything to happen on offense - so what are you talking about up there? And on that note, if Trent Dilfer can get a ring, ANYBODY with decent ability can. Lates.

VY will be Comeback Player of the Year in either 2009 or 2010. He is a great athlete and all he needs is a little time to learn the pro game. Even when VY won Rookie of the Year I felt that he was not ready to be an NFL quarterback. Steve McNair learned from the sidelines for 3 years and struggled for 2 more before he established himself as one of the NFLs elite. I respect everything that Kerry Collins dd for this team this year but the future of the team is Vince Young. As long as Vince himself matures and accepts the learning curve he needs to go through he will become one of the most feared double-threat quarterbacks in the NFL. All Titan fans just be patient VY will return and he will be better than ever!!!!!!!!!

January 12, 2009  07:33 AM ET

VY will be nothing more than what he is a pretty could athlete "trying" to play quarterback at the nfl level. it works wonders in college but come sundays no dice!

January 12, 2009  10:13 AM ET

I put all the blame for Vince this year on the fans, you idiots expected him to come in and be the best thing since sliced bread, you ruined arguable the best college player ever. trade him to the cowboys please, we will treat him right!

Vince Young should reclaim his starting job in the some manner in which he lost it, by a few simple words from Jeff Fisher. Vince Young's job was not lost due to a performance issue.
There is something going on in Tennessee that is beyond what the eye can see.
I think Vince Young was hoodwinked/bamboozlled by his own head coach, Jeff Fisher.

After Kerry Collins went 0-5 at the start of the 2006 season Vince Young took over and won the starting job with an 8-8 season and Rookie Of The Year honors. The next year he took the team to the playoffs with a 10-6 record... Vince started the 2008 season, got hurt late in the 4th quarter, left the game and never a meaningful down agan.
You seem to be a smart person....Tell me, Why did Vince Young loose his starting job???
