Tennis  > General Tennis  > Federer v. The Golden Age of American Tennis
February 1, 2010, 09:41 PM
Roger Federer as of (February 1, '10) has 16 majors. Could he match or surpass 26 major victories; which is the sum of the victories of Pete Sampras, Andre Agassi, Jim Courier, & Michael Chang (13,8,4,1 respectively)? He just might. However, within those 26 American wins, there are four French Open titles. That, within itself, may be more difficult than the simply matching or surpassing 26. He has yet to complete a Grand Slam, something Laver (not to mention Steffi Graf) has accomplished.

note* This 'American Golden Age' reference is no disrespect to McEnroe & Connors, or any other great era.
