NFL  > Miami Dolphins  > Chad Pennington better than Brett Favre?
October 27, 2008, 10:32 PM
Pennington doesn't throw three picks a game like the Brett-ster. The Dolphins are in better hands, especially now that Pennington is starting to connect with his WRs.
November 9, 2008  07:05 PM ET

Yep... I mainly think that the Dolphins are just a better fit for Pennington. The Jets just weren't the place for him.

November 28, 2008  12:22 PM ET

Maybe a better fit for both on their respective teams, but career wise? This isnt even a conversation. Favre is a HOFer and Chad is still trying to make his place in history.

November 28, 2008  01:44 PM ET

Lets see, a guy thats a HOFer vs Pennington...hmm my votes goes to Favre.

How can you compare this...compare the fluke Rodgers to Pennington, never get a shot at the hall of fame and be average possibly a backup down the road...

I am not saying, at least at this point that Chad is better than Brett. However, I have been a Chad fan since his college days at Marshall University, less that 25 miles from my home. The Media and the jets have already set up the excuse of the year in light of a Dolphin victory this Sunday, December 28th by saying that his arm is geting tired. So, I feel that when the Dolphins DO WIN there is going to be some type of excuse by the Media and Jets management. I am also taking odds on Farve's retiement again after this season? I would like to hear everyone's comments.....GOOD LUCK FINS......

The Dolphin win today should end the question of who is better right now, Chad or Brett. Good night and good bye Brett. Jets suck ha ha ha

Favre was once a great quarterback, but that was many years ago (like in the 90s). How he was able to obtain the QB records has has, I will never know. When you watch him play, he has no clue what he is doing. He throws too many balls up for grabs that luckily for him, his WRs were able to bring in. I think that is how his stats have grown. But on the other hand, many of those jump balls are also picked. Case in point: last year's NFC Championship game in OT. Case in point: Game 1 vs Dolphins this season when he was almost sacked but threw the ball up near the goal line which was caught for a TD. Planned? NOT IN THE LEAST. And whatever respect I had for the guy was lost when he decided to return from retirement, and cry that Green Bay was not being fair to him. Give it up already. And the final micro-ounce of respect was shattered Sunday when he left the field after the loss to the Dolphins without even shaking hands with anyone. What a poor sport. Go soak your bones Bret... for good this time.

What? In the overall picture, obviously not. But, in last weeks game? Hell yes.

All I know is that when the season started...Favre was thought to be going to a few teams, one of those was Miami for a minute, but I thought, no thanks, we don't want the drama. Not to mention we are rebuilding. Eventually Pennington was picked up by Miami and I though.. hmm good fit. If it doesn't work out then we still are working on getting the team right. And now we see the outcome. I don't care who is better, all I care is that Pennington is the leader of my team. Woo hoo.. go Dolphins!!!

Farve is a great QB (Hall of Fame-er first round) who should retire, get on one of the 3000 or so pregame shows and mouth-off about everything under the sun, he would look great next to Ditka.
Chad is a good journey men QB who may get lucky and get to a AFC/NFC tital game someday.
Rather a pointless thread.

Agree with Hammered, totally pointless this thread is.

The answer is no.

January 19, 2009  06:16 PM ET

no, he isnt. comeback player of the year twice, shows how flukey pennington is... Farve is a hucker, but at least he has accomplished something in his career... Pennington will flop again next year, then win comeback player again in '11, but lose in the playoffs, third time is not a charm:)...gosh, the fins do good one time in a decade and now everyone thinks they are a powerhouse.

Pow you're just miserable because of how horrible your Donkeys (Broncos) did this year. Probably mad that we whooped that ass, and it seems to happen more than not when it comes between Miami vs Denver. Pennington is our short term answer, Henne seems to be our long term answer. We have one great season and will continue to have more great seasons now that we have a coaching staff.

The greatest favor the J-e-t-s SUCK SUCK SUCK could have done for Miami was to sign Favre and release Chad. Maybe their "on top of it" ownership thought it was still 1996 or something. Thank you NYJ for allowing my Phins to acquire the leader they despeately needed to escape the embarrassment of a 1-15 season and then beat you guys for the division. Thank you from the bottom of my aqua and orange heart.

Chad is a good QB but not a great QB, we had Chad for 8 years and we thought he was the man, but then when the rest of the NFL put 9 men in the box and challenged him to throw deep....Miami nicknamed him Noodlearm.
Chad has a lot of Heart, and is bright as hell, the Fish will have limited success with chad till all the trick plays and the "newness" of the system wears off, then defenses will jamb the box and force Chad to "toss" those passes....Miami will remember why they nicknamed him that.
It is a shame, he really is a class act, and I do wish him luck.

Haha, ya, but this has nothing to do with my Donkeys! We made every offense look sweet!!! This is like comparing Dan Marino to lets say um, Joe Flacco because he had one good year ? Do you like putting those two guys in the same field of comparison? Hey, win a superbowl that isn't in the disco era and I will take back what I said with Chad. You better hope it gets better, you can only go up! Props this season tho!

First off, I hate Farve. But i do admit overall farve is better. Last year he was a LOT worse yet still made Pro-Bowl. Chad is a game manager and brett is a gunslinger so it's hard to compare.

The 'disco era' is when they actually played football instead of this two hand touch horse feathers game they play now. It's still the best game in the land though.

We will keep winning in one of the toughest divisions in football, and you'll keep almost winning in one of the weakest.
