NFL  > Jacksonville Jaguars  > The L.A. Jaguars?

Any chance the lackluster enthusiasm for the team will come back to haunt Jacksonville when the NFL looks to move a team to LA? The nation's second-largest TV market will get a team eventually.

Wow now that's interesting. Make sure all the gang member is okay with the move first. You better call the crips and bloods first before they pull a fast one on the team. Just kidding but I'll be glad to see a football team in Los Santos again.

First L.A. will have to build a stadium that isn't a piece of junk. I think they learned from past experience that no NFL team will survive their unless a new stadium is built but plans for one are already underway I believe.

Second, Wayne Weaver said he will never move the Jags to L.A. or out of Jacksonville. However, he is getting older and will look to sell a large portion or all of the team within the next few years. That being said, someone could buy the Jags and move them to L.A., which unless they are a Jacksonville native or the Jacksonville fans start showing some support for their team will probably happen if the team is sold.

I personally have season tickets and don't understand how after having a playoff berth last season and winning out first playoff game in 8 years that season tickets didn't sell out. I wish more people here would support the Jags but with the team's performance not anywhere near what everyone here had imagined for this year and the economy I don't see it changing anytime soon. Especially after we pay a receiver 10 mil. to come here and ride the bench. That has a lot of Jags fans, even die-hards like me, pissed.

Is college FB big in that part of Florida? This always competes with the NFL for fans.
Probably why LA isn't in a huge hurry for an NFL team, with USC and UCLA doing well.

The Jaguars would be a good choice to move to LA

1. Weaver won't do it; so it won't happen until he croaks or loses the ol' mind (he's an old dude, so it might be around the corner).

2. Any new ownership group will know that the NFL is a bad play in Los Angeles. The NFL does not survive here. The team will move-- but not to LA.

3. I humbly beg that the family that owns GATE PETROLEUM take charge and lead the next ownership group! Doesn't GATE STADIUM have a nice ring to it?

The Jags are the only football team I'd want to see moving to L.A.

That is an urban myth. Look at the attendance records for BOTH the Rams and the Raiders. They didn't lack for fan support (well, except when the Queen ***** took over the Rams; see below).

Ever see the movie Major League? Different sport, but the character of the female team owner, Rachel Phelps (a former Vegas showgirl who inherited the team from her late husband...sound familiar?) was modeled closely on Georgia Frontiere. She moved the Rams because NO ONE respected her, and the fans wouldn't give her team the support she wanted. If Carroll Rosenbloom were still alive, the Rams would still be in Anaheim.

The Raiders flat out NEVER had trouble selling seats; the primary reason Al Davis moved (again) was that the city wouldn't accede to his extortionary demands for taxpayers to pay for a new stadium for the team.

I know everyone east of the Mississippi (and a lot of people west of it) loves to knock L.A., but your assertion is a fallacy.

December 18, 2008  05:25 PM ET

And do you know what it was Big Al wanted in his new stadium? More luxury boxes. (As if his team wasn't making enough money as it was.)

December 23, 2008  02:22 PM ET

If it were a fallacy, there would be a team here.

This is such the proverbial dead horse. I live in Jacksonville and just because you don???t sell out your season tickets before the season starts does not mean that you have a disconnect with the city of its fan base. The reality is that a huge amount of Jacksonville residents cherish this team. It???s not our fault that the city and the league built one of the biggest stadiums for one of the smallest markets in the league.

Also Jacksonville is a hub for relocated northerners that bring with them their stupid Steelers and whoever loyalties and bash our team every chance they get on the local news message boards. Sure, a lot of people here have plenty of money but they just aren't the NFL type. Gator fans and Professional golfers have a deep history here. But that is changing due to the first generation of kids that were raised with the Jaguars team.

You haters can bash us with your cheap media perceptions all you want but this stadium has never been just 3/4 full on game day! We love our Jags, the city politicians love their Jags, our kids love their Jags, THEY???RE NOT EVER MOVING TO LA!!!!!

Now go off and bother Vikings and Rams fans about stealing their teams. And while you???re at it why don't you check Al Davis' pulse, his team is the only team that needs to move back to that slummy cesspool that you call L.A.

I'm curious if you were even alive when either team was here. Once again, as I have said till I'm blue in the face, the reason there are no teams here is that the city, after "You can call me Al's" extortion job, won't subsidize a new stadium.

December 31, 2008  12:56 PM ET

I lived in LA for years when they had the Rams and you see how that worked out. I went to a lot of Rams games, but not a lot of other people did, and the reason is simple, a majority of NFL fans in LA are transplants from somewhere else and they root for other teams. Also, there is so much to do in LA, surfing, skiing, hiking, beaches, the desert, the mountains, etc...
Does anyone think because LA has a team more tv's will be on? The transplants are already watching their teams on tv so I am not sure what exactly the argument is?

That my friend will never happen with public money. The Rose Bowl is in a very rich neighborhood and they will not allow another 10 games so this story is a waste of time until private money gets invested in a new stadium.

Mr. Weaver has already said it. The Jags are staying in Jacksonville and although I don't live in Jax I support the team by buying my tickets and going to the games. The Jags leaving would create a hell of a controversy in Jacksonville. Plus who would want to go to LA anyway. The place sucks.

LA , land of fruits and nuts.

I would like to respectfully request that everyone NOT a resident of the city of Jacksonville keep your freaking hands off our team! They're not some chess piece you move around to suit your television ratings strategy. There are plenty of real Jaguar fans, and we don't appreciate being talked about like we're not here. Last time I checked, Wayne Weaver bought this franchise, just like every other NFL owner. There are plenty of other teams suffering attendance problems right now...I don't hear anyone talking about moving the Lions, despite an 0-16 season, television blackouts, and perpetually being a crap team in one of the nastiest cities in the US. Come to think of it, why do they still play on Thanksgiving in Detroit? They haven't been competitive in years!

Just keep your hands off, and mind your own damn business! Wayne Weaver himself has stated that the team is in Jacksonville for the long term, especially as long as he's majority owner.
