How far do you see this Bills team going this season? Are they Super Bowl contenders?
October 28, 2008  02:28 PM ET

The Bills are a playoff contender for sure, but Super Bowl I cant see. Too many question marks still exist on this team and we are almost at the half way point of the season. The loss to miami exposed many weaknesses on this team. The Offensive line is very weak and the secondary struggled against a belwo average Dolphin receiving core. Terrence McGee should not have been activated for that game. Ginn blew him up. Edwards looked shaky at times and really didnt have any protection throughout the game. I think the Bills bounce back this Sunday @ home against the Jets and should be able to keep pace with the Pats for the division title, but SuperBowl I think is a pipe dream at this point. In a few years the Bills will be legitimate title contenders.

I agree, I think the Bills are a longshot for the Super Bowl. I think they realistically could get to the AFC Championship, but its more likely they lose the game before that in the playoffs.

Kind of like the Falcons though, this team has the makings to be a legit contender in a year or 2.

T.O. wont tear them apart, but he and lynch should stay out of trouble. If the team can stay together then they will probably see the playoffs. But they wont see the Superbowl for a while.

AT LEAST T.O. WILL GIVE THE BILLS SOME KIND OF A PULSE, BILLS SHOULD GIVE EDWARDS AND A HIGH DRAFT PICK TO TRY AND LAND CULTER

April 2, 2009  09:26 PM ET

Bills will be interesting this upcoming season. Although TO is a team disruptor, he is playing for a contract and may keep his mouth shut and be productive this season. So it will be up to the coaches to call more imaginative play calls and up to the offense to execute those plays. I'm not sold yet that this will happen. So my early prediction is at best a wild card berth and a first round knock out or missing the playoffs by one or two games.

April 3, 2009  02:03 PM ET

Sorry Dan F, Cutler went to the browns. just fyi

April 3, 2009  03:27 PM ET

With no offensive line, the Bills will not make the playoffs. Edwards will not have a chance to throw to him with what they have protecting him

Bills will be 7-9 at best. T.O. will tear them apart.

give me a break.... acutally, give t.o. a break. he isn't going to tear them apart. he might voice his opinion some, but he won't destroy the bills. i believe he will actually make them a little better. the guy has talent..... and dallas will miss him "on the field" next season.

April 3, 2009  07:02 PM ET

They will be if they put Plaxico on the other side and line up TO and Evans. Now that's a three wide set to contend with. Then, then Edwars has no excuses. I am very hopeful for the Bills this year but they need another nice signing. Enough of the "character guys" Buffalo...Character doesn't win games or championships. I wouldn't be shy with Vick either. Third string the guy, nobody else wants him. What can it hurt. Take everything away from a guy (jail), dangle a carrot (incentive laiden contract), he may prove valuable down the road.

April 3, 2009  09:01 PM ET

Vick has tons of talent and we would be lucky to land him, but i dont think the bills will put the money into it. They will probably pick up another QB like j.p. losman.

April 6, 2009  06:00 PM ET

im seeing a 7-9 or 8-8 for yal

It looks to me like you need a QB and another top receiver. Look at Edwards stats, all those int's, TO will have him for lunch.

What you need to do is trade both of your #1 picks to Cleveland for Brady Quinn & Braylon Edwards.

Also I see our old fiend Art Model pesters your website too.

April 29, 2009  12:47 PM ET

Or .......trade all your picks to Dallas in 2010 and we'll send you something back, I'm sure......but, we don't want T.O. back....you won't want him after 6-8 games this year either.

I see a 3-13 season.........@game 8, I foresee T.O. imploding, causing havoc, and just generally creating mayhem because he only has 4 TD catches.

May 14, 2009  12:09 PM ET

Owens or no Owens they will have a tough time repeating last years 7-9 record. Their offensive line is in shambles, they desperately need a linebacker, there is uncertainty at cornerback and safety, they still have Jauron, Lynch will miss the first three games, they have one of the more difficult schedules, and Brandon is worse than Levi if that is possible. The mistakes he made this off season are countless, first and foremost not making Peters play out the final two years of his contract, not signing Coles instead of Owens, not getting a linebacker.........and the draft.............this team is in for a very, very long season.

Here is my prediciton. Teams are listed in order of who they play!

1. Pats- Loss (MNF, Brady Back.. Need I say more) 0-1
2. Bucs- Win (Home Game, TO 1st home game, BUCS Suck) 1-1
3. Saints- Loss (Just a better team but home game for Buff so will be close) 1-2
4. Fins- Loss (Away Game.. Another close loss) 1-3
5. Browns- Win (Browns will be awful, home game) 2-3
6. Jets- Win (Even though away game, JETS have no QB) 3-3
7. Panthers- Loss (Away game, Panthers are too good for Bills) 3-4
8. Texans- Win (Home game, Should be tight) 4-4
9. BYE
10. Titans- Loss (Away game and their D is insane) 4-5
11. Jags- Win (Bills play the Jags hard) 5-5
12. Miami- Win (Home game) 6-5
13. Jets- Win (Toronto and again Jets = NO QB) 7-5
14. Chiefs- Win (This will be a good game but Bills should win) 8-5
15. Pats- Loss (Predict a 38-10 loss to the Pats. Pats will be hitting their stride and might need this for the division) 8-6
16. Falcons- Loss (Away game and Falcons will need this to make the playoffs) 8-7
17. Colts- Win (Colts will have backups in) 9-7

Seems realistic. I can see them falling in the 8-8 to 10-6 area easily. TO will play well for at least 1 year; he needs the contract. After that who knows. The rest of the team is fair and could roll into the AFC championships with a little luck and a good stride going into the playoffs. The Jets and the Bills are my wild card wonders in the AFC; certainly 1 of the 2 are going to look really good this year.

June 17, 2009  07:04 PM ET

they've certainly upgraded at receiver, but T.O is slowing down and drops a lot of balls. not this year, Bills.

Breaking down the T.O. Myth: Production vs. Production efficiency

in 2008, 27 Wide Receivers in the NFL posted more than 900 yards. TEs Gonzales (1058 yds) and Witten (952 yds) are not in this WR list.

With 1052 yds, T.O. ranked a respectable 12th among all NFL WRs. Given, 08 was not TOs best year in Dallas, but the 1052 yds are not far off his career average in Dallas of 1195 yds, which would have ranked him 9th on the 08 WR list. Note that one Lee Evans ranked 16th with 1017 yards.

So overall production for T.O. could be considered good. But let???s look at how efficiently that production was achieved.

Reception efficiency: T.O. was targeted 140 times, and turned 69 of those balls into receptions. That???s a 49% reception rate. Rank: 27th. Dead last among all top WRs. Evans is 13th with 62%.

Dropped Balls - T.O. dropped 10 balls. Only Dwayne Bowe and Brandon Marshall (13 & 12) dropped more balls. Of the 140 balls thrown his way, T.O. dropped 7.1%. The 7.1% ranks 24th overall. Evans dropped two balls, giing him a 2% dropped ball percentage, ranking him 3rd overall.

Yards per Game: Over the season, T.O. averaged 65.8 YPG, ranking him a solid 13th on the WR list. Now, if you take out the one 49ers game (7 Rec, 213 yds), that figure drops to a pedestrian 55.9 YPG. That 55.9 would rank 27th, again dead last. Evans 63.6, 19th.

1st down efficiency: Recording 38 1st downs against 69 receptions translates into a 55% 1st down rate. Rank: 24th. Evans (46/63) converted 73% of passes caught into 1st downs, ranking him 5th.

Yards after catch: T.O. produced 4.2 YAC/ reception. Rank: 19th. Evans 4.0, rank 22nd, not so great either.

In summary, T.O. unquestionably produced some nice numbers in Dallas, but was highly inefficient in producing those numbers. I'm sure that T.O. will continue to produce some highlight reel plays for the Bills, but if he is going to catch less than half the balls thrown his way, well then good luck with that.

First off, ITZMEBROWNSFAN, what are you talking about???? all those interceptions?? Edwards has 18ints in his two years, which is the same amount of touchdowns he has. Being on a team with only one solid wide out and an average line, thats not bad especially since he is still a work in progress. Most people seem to think there O-line took a hit. I will agree, it took a hit at LT. But really Peters sucked last year, so I dont see the line being worse than last years O-line. Hangartner is a good Center, and Wood will be just as good or better than Dockery who sucks. I will admit though I didnt really care for most of the draft. They had three good picks, but Maybin is small, weak, and unproven. Wood, Levitre, and Nelson were solid picks though and all three will be huge this year. I am a modest Bills fan, I dont give credit to them when it isnt due, but I think that they deserve some credit because they did a good job this offseason. All they forgot to get was an OLB, which could hurt them but thats the only weak spot i see.
QB- Edwards- Has two years experience, this is his breakout year, he knows the pressure is on
RB's- Three really good running backs on one team, best backfield in the NFL, without a doubt
WR's- Two stars, both with speed, and a group of backups that have great hands.
TE- No big name stars, weakest Offensive Position, they could be solid depending on Nelson.
T- Walker and Butler are both starters from last year with skill and size, not awesome, but not bad either
G- Young talent with lots of room to grow. Rookies have easier time adjusting to guard then tackle, so Bills get lucky having two players to fill in at tackle.
C- Hangartner is a solid O-linemen, doesnt have tons of experience, but did you see the Panthers rushing attack last year??
DE-Not the greatest in the league, I'd say a little below average, Schobel needs to teach Maybin how to get the job done for these guys to produce.
DT-One of the best in Stroud, and great depth at the position, they can basically rotate anyone of their DT's in and have some success.
OLB- Weakest position on the team, Mitchell is a baby, like all Bills LB's. He better play his ass off though if he wants to prove he is an actual force
MLB- POZ aint all that hot. most fans love him, but I find it hard to when all of his tackles are 6 to 7 yards down the field... WEAK
CB- best defensive position, depth is insane. McGee, Mckelvin, Florence, Youbouty, on and on and on
S- Not great talent here, Not awful talent either. Whitner is undersized and was bad in coverage most of last year. I think the change will help this year

10-6 this year, they'll start off slow, but in the end they'll get it
