NFL  > Minnesota Vikings  > Tavaris takes a backseat on Gus's Bus

Tavaris Jackson was on top of the world for all of 2 weeks in Minnesota. Do you think Childress pulled the string too early or just the right time?

I think Childress did the right thing for the team with no disrespect to T.J. I know it seems crazy, but why not go after Vick when he gets out. Because who knows if T.J. will be ready for the 09 season, he may just have to sit or be second string for one more year to get more used to the play book.

I think Tavaris will be ok. he has defjnetly shown improvement and could turn out to be a pretty good quarterback over th next few year's. He already know's the system and to be honest with you i dont think Vick would get much respect from the player's themselves. I have no problem with him coming back into the league but i dont think he would fit in minnesota.

everyone will see why he takes a back seat on gus's bus after jackson and childress lose our chance at the superbowl. jackson is not ready to start except maybe detroit or oakland

I'm kinda with you on that but rome wash't built in a day and i like you have been waiting for a long time for a superbowl in Minnesota. I say give the kid a chance. This is the best shot we have had in year's so who know's what could happen this time. Hell crazier thing's have happend before. Let's save the crucification for after the playoff's.

I feel the only way Tjack can win some of the fans over is if they win the superbowl. Which is stupid. No matter what game we lose in(if we do) the blame will fall on his inexperience. Just like the Falcons game. He had a pretty decent day, and he was still blamed by many for the loss. I feel bad for the kid, because no one will care how far we get into the playoffs. Everyone will still call for his replacement. I dont even think its too far fetched to say if the vikings won the superbowl people would still say jackson doesn't deserve the start. It really just frustrates me how much people will sit and argue no matter what happens. It's pathetic.

Unless T-Jackson makes mistake like he did against ATL and the NYG. Then he will be okay.

January 3, 2009  10:44 AM ET

T-Jack isn't going to be a good NFL QB ever, he is average at best. He only throws 10 to 15 yard passes most times and only throws 15 to 20 passes a game. He still has trouble reading defenses and finding the open receiver. He has about three good games in his 3 year career so far. I would go out and find another QB before the 2009 season starts.

January 4, 2009  04:22 AM ET

Uh, T-Jack already is a good QB. Over the last month, no one in the league has been better. He's got a 115 passer rating in that span of time, and rushed for 76 yards against the Falcons to boot. I think a lot of fans just aren't happy unless they can find something to complain about, and the QB is the easiest target. Get over it already, the guy is proving that he belongs, and if people would just get off of his back, he might even win them over.

This is the real test today, against a complete defense with all it's starters in . but should the fans and veterans be handed a very important playoff loss while a kid is trying to learn ?If after 2-3 series, it looks bad, i would expect a coach with any smarts at all to put the veteran in.there is just too much at stake.this is the best team in years except for one link in the chain(QB tarvarious jackson) and he is the masterlink. if he breaks, everyone loses in viking land. The team really needs the veteran QB at this time.think about it coach!

THANKS COACH AND TAR FOR NOTHING

My thought is i like T.jax talent and attitude....I am a supporter..i think he will be good...yet he did not make the plays ...so i would bring in somebody to compete for the job..he still seems skittish insure even when explaining plays........However i have to wonder about the coaching...It is very curious Barien was critical about not going after Samuel deep...said"'We can only play what is called"..Also he was very supportive of Jackson...Curious....Is Jackson Allowed to through deep very much???

Jackson should be just fine, its the play calling that suck's.1st half of the game we were moving the ball and were only down 16-14. Second half we get conservative like were up by 21 with 5 minute's left in the game. All passes 15yds or under, no play fakes, no draws, no screens nothing out of the ordinary. We made Phillies defense look better than it was. No disrespect to philly but come on. Normally you try to change your tendencies to throw the other team off, but not us, we have to run on 1st 2nd and and then pass. How predictable. Probably one of the easiest day's Jim Johnson had all year. And then the icing on the cake is when philly went up 23-14 with 7 minutes left its like we went into some run out the clock offense, no hurry up no sense of urgency what so ever. Even a field goal would have cut it to 6 with time left on the clock. I guess Childress just wanted the defense to hold them the rest of the game so we only lost by a touch down. While i'm thinking about it our special teams suck to. So here's my thought's FIRE the offensive coordinator, I mean any body can run a high school offense. FIRE the special team's coach/ worst special team's in the league and i dont think i'm to far out on a limb with that one. Find another wide reciever to compliment Berrian. Defense is fine like it is , maybe shore up the secondary a little. And last but not least Chilly should stop trying to run the same offense he did in philly and maybe look for someone like Brian Billeck HINT HINT
