NFL  > Washington Redskins  > Zorn Report Card

I have a great deal of respect for Joe Gibbs, but Zorn has been much better for this team. Anyone else agree?

I agree, but I think Gibbs set him up. The thing that was lacking was a passing attack. Zorn brought that in but kept Gibb's running scheme.

i agree, although Zorn has looked like a rookie head coach at times with his clock managment and lack of a 2 min offense, he has been key in the progression of Jason Campbell and seems to be a players coach. The redskins whom many thought were lost in the tough NFC east, have emerged as a deffinate contender. Many now feel that washington is a favorite for a wildcard spot, if they dont end up winning the division. Good move Daniel Synder

You can not win in the NFL if you can not score more than 7 points a game. The Redskins do not have an offense anymore and Campbell is playing like a High School Quarterback. Telegraphs his throws and throws to a reciever in double and tripple coverage and holds the ball too long. Wondering now if he will make it in the NFL?????

I do not agree.

As a former NFL quarterback himself, I would've thought Zorn would have Colt Brennan as Jason Campbell's back up a long time ago. The 'Skins' season is justifiably over, and I may sound there's some bias-ness in my comment, but what would it hurt to have Colt takes some snaps and see what the young kid can do.

As a lifelong Skins fan I would like to see Colt get a chance next year. If not, then they should go get a free agent QB like Cassell. I know it was just pre-season but Colt's instincts just seem better and Campbell just seems so mechanical and panics in the pocket. Colt may have a sidearm release but he has a strong arm and is accurate not to mention he's not scared to sling it. Get Kelly and Thomas in the lineup and let's at least try to pass the ball downfield for a change. I'm tired of the dink and dunk short passes that the Skins have relied on the past few years.

I agree; however, the west coast offense is design to open up running lanes for Portis by throwing the ball. Zorn started to get predictable around mid-season, and that's why they didn't have a successful 2nd half of the season. A lot of rookie mistakes during this time. I agree with everyone else, Colt needs to be given a shot come training camp. He was the most effective QB the Redskins had during last year's preseason. So what he throws the ball side-arm, as long as it is effective. Jason holds the ball too long, which causes him to get sack a great deal; this is unacceptable.

Jason Campbell hopefully will leave the Skins and end up in the SB with another team. DC fans just never warmed up to JC. But, let Colt start and I see Heath Shuler in 8 weeks time. When your OL has a jail break 3 to 5 times a game and your average hits in the game is around 15 times, no runnig attack, predictable 3rd down calls, recivers except S Moss who can't seperate from backs and saftey's yeah is'a ll Campbell's fault. Yep, he has to throw the ball, catch the ball, block the defenders, Hmmmm, maybe walk on water too. But with DC sorry Fans wishing for Joe Theisman to return in the for of Colt Brennan, get real!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Apparently you know little about football, much less the Skins. You're right on one thing, JC can't do everything. The QB of any football team is to be the leader of the team; he has yet demonstrated any leadership qualities. I don't care who you are, an offensive lineman can block one man at a time and hold defenders but for so long; and as far as jail breaks, the QB has to recognize and read defenses, not to mention being able to move around in the pocket (not necessarily scrambling). Jason was sacked a lot, because he didn't move around in the pocket to buy extra time. A prime example of a good mobile QB is Ben Rothelesberger. As big as he is, he buys extra time to get the ball to his receivers. Look at Peyton Manning, the Colts don't have an awesome line, but he is so good in calling out his protection. And as far as Colt, he is never to be compared to Shuler. Shuler tumbled out the gates by coming to camp late and never got into any offensive rhythm . At least Colt had an impressive preseason last year. I'm not saying he's the second coming to Manning, but given a fair shot, I think he will be right for Zorn's offense.

Zorn is a good man and Gibbs left him with a good team. I think a few of the players are burnt out from the changes and i think it showed in 2008. With a good off season and some motivation I thing the team will rebound. JC needs to be replaced through. He is a reactive QB that reacts too slowly. Good guy but is not the right fit.
