NFL  > New York Giants  > Osi Needs To Grow Up; Kudos To Coughllin & Reese
March 8, 2010, 11:38 AM
Why is it that some players feel they are falsely entitled to being treated a certain way? You get a fat contract, then expect to be able to slack off, or stick your team with an ultimatum? Lame, and Osi Umenyora has just proven that he is nothing more than a self-entitled brat, and thankfully Coughlin and Reese stood strong...

From the USAToday.com's team report:
???DE Osi Umenyiora recently met with head coach Tom Coughlin and General Manager Jerry Reese to address his concerns over his demotion last season from the starting lineup. However, Umenyiora, who twice has insisted that his situation "needs to change," received no guarantees from Coughlin regarding getting his starting job back.

"I don't know how you do that," Coughlin said at the NFL Combines. "Our field is the field, and competition is good. It's like we tell everybody: go earn it."

Despite his inability to make any promises, Coughlin said he hopes Umenyiora understands that he's still very much in the team's plans for 2010.

"Osi's a big part of our team and we expect he'll come back, work as hard as he can and be a big part of our defensive rejuvenation," Coughlin said.
