What did you think of the Hollywood, Fla., event? Better yet, what did you think of Urijah Faber vs. Mike Brown?

Please don't ever compare baseball to MMA.

Now...shocked is a word I'd use. Urijah risked a devastating elbow....but got punched right in the jaw before that elbow landed. Crazy. Didn't see it coming.

It was like a three pointer at the buzzer! A leg bye that stopped the rot! The seeker got the snitch just before being bludgered by a fat beater!

Okay, so it was a lucky punch that capitalized on Faber's missed spinning elbow. Good fight, can't wait for the rematch as it will be interesting to see how this effects Faber's confidence and mental game.
Brown is a tough competitor with unreal strength and a good does of natural talent, but can he beat Urijah (who is all these things with outstanding natural talent) again is the question of the day.

I don't want to say Faber was irresponsible, but what else you can you really call it? He knew the book on Brown - the guy is a frigen powder keg. That said, you don't want to come into his wheel house disoriented and throw a crazy spinning elbow. Faber is a risk taker (just look at his one legged flying knees from time to time), but I think he needs to be more of a tactician with guys like Brown going forward.

Shocked sounds about right to me too. The fact that Pulver lost via TKO and lazy **** Filho couldn't even make weight or show up for the fight made it a somewhat disappointing night.

Thought it was a good event. Fun to watch and very unpredictable. Lots of the favorites fell. Will this hurt WEC's plan to go PPV with Faber anchoring? Doubt it he's still a great fighter, exciting to watch, and seems to be a class act ala GSP. But his greatest strengths (aggressiveness and impovisation), sometimes come off a bit reckless and put him in bad positions during fights. This time he got caught. Hope he doesn't change too much his fights are damn fun to watch.

PS - Filho ticked me off! He didn't seem to care in the least that he couldn't make weight, took away another fighters chance to be a champion, and had no desire to fight. Which also rightly ticked off fans they wanted to see not just a fight but a title fight. He showed no remorse or respect. What the hell was all that about? Maybe answers will be coming.

That was the sloppiest looking elbow attempt I have ever seen. He deserved to get caught after trying that.

Faber will be back. That kid is a beast. A freak. He won't have any problems mentally, IMO. He just got caught. It happens....just never expected it to happen to him last night.

I was surprised seeing Pulver get dropped but then again...I wasn't. Really like him but I'd never bet money on him. lol

And Filho....that guy makes me sick. They should take his purse and his belt. He doesn't deserve to hold any belt, in any league.

I feel like I got ripped off whenever I go to an event, or buy it on tv, and the ref has to command the "fighters" to fight. If they aint got no dog in em, they got no bidnis there. What Paulo F. did was so much worse, not just for this crowd (punk acts like he done someone a favor, not the other way around) but for this emerging sport and the corporation that made him. Some others may be a bit older or mebbe even not as skilled; the FACT is, I`d rather be paying to see someone with Real heart and integrity than what I just flew back and forth across the country to see.

No one is invincible and not forever.

Faber got caught, he'll be back. After all, he's still 29.

I have only seen one fight of Mike Brown before, in the UFC against Genki Sudo and wasn't impressed with the guy. So, it was a definite surprise.

MMA produces a lot of surprises, add this one to the books.

Reminds me of when GSP lost to Serra. That is the great thing about MMA. Anyone can win on any given night. Farber got sloppy and made a mistake which in a title fight will cost you as he and GSP will attest to.

Farber will be back and I am sure he will learn from this and will produce a much different result in the rematch.
