MMA  > Fight Club  > Should Filho be cut from Zuffa?
November 7, 2008, 04:24 PM
SI.com's Josh Gross touched on the potential consequences of Paulo Filho's weird performance at WEC 36, in which the middleweight came in four pounds over weight and lost his belt to Chael Sonnen in a rematch between the two.

It seemed Filho was on the verge of landing a spot in the UFC prior to this bout. But after all this, do you think Zuffa should consider letting him go altogether? Or should the Brazilian get another shot?

If I was Zuffa I'd have a psychiatric console done on Paulo. He seems like a liability. Is he going to come in shape? Is he going to be on LSD? What the hell was wrong with him? Completely unprofessional. Total clown.

I'm still miffed about the whole lack of a title fight. Robbed Sonnen!

One of the best fighters in the world is now a completely crazy guy, addicted to who knows what.

He's a liability until proven otherwise.

What a shame, what a waste of talent.

BTW, look at this:

In slow motion it's even worse.

What was the guy looking at? CREEPY

I hate to say it because he may have legitimate problems, but maybe he is trying to duck a fight with Anderson Silva. I mean, correct me if I'm wrong, but after this year the middleweight divison will be gone in the WEC. If it is then they will bring over the middleweight champion and have a unification fight to determine the undisputed champion much like they did with the Pride belts.

Now if Filho has been as explosive/aggressive and still be the champion then UFC (Zuffa) would defiantely put this fight on regardless of them being friends and saying they would not fight each other. I know it sounds bad to say that a highly regarded athlete like Filho would do this, but maybe he just does not want to be forced to fight his friend. I bet that after Silva retires the old Filho comes back and becomes the UFC middleweight champion because he would not have to fight his friend. Time will tell I guess, but I must admit that I do miss the old Filho and hope he comes back to his senses!

I don't know what the hell is wrong with Filho. Zuffa needs to look into it, but if they are gonna stand by Rampage, then they should stand by Filho for now.
