MMA  > Fight Club  > Will age be the difference-maker in Couture vs. Lesnar?
November 13, 2008, 02:33 PM
Randy Couture returns to the Octagon after a 15-month break and at the age of 45. While he may be the champ, he faces a brawny 31-year-old in Brock Lesnar.

Will his age get the best of Couture at UFC 91?

Randy's age is something we can do nothing about. Bad for Brock if people say Brock beat an old Randy Couture. I truly believe Brock would beat a 31 year old Couture. Too much physical ability and power matched with equally measured fighting passion. Tough guy to overwhelm. If Brock has a weakness as we all do. Randy is the type of guy to exploit it. Is Brock submissable?, Yes already proven. Does Brock have a chin? Not tested. Randy is by no means out of this one 45 or not. His tolerance to lactic acid is not human by scientific testing. He actully is more resitent to it as the fight goes on. Incredible by all scientic studies. He may be equally a human freak as Brock is. 48.5 hours to find out!

This one has nothing to do with age. This is a bad match up for Randy. This is not someone he's going to ground and pound or out wrestle. Lester's weakness is on the submission side which is not an area where Randy is strong. It is likely that Brock will be just too big and too strong for Randy to handle. That said.........go Randy.

I think Randy is going to do is best to keep it standing and to to test the chin. He may also opt for trying to get Brock on his back. Who knows Brock could be a turtle once he is on his back.

Thats what I'm saying, who knows....This is going to be a good fight, we'll find out who's better.

Hopefully it does not end in a NC or split DES.

It's going to be a good fight but age doesn't really matter. It's all about luck and experience.

It looks like size was the biggest factor here. I belive Randy won the first round, but once Brock got the spacing in Round 2, Randy was severely disadvantaged, and it showed.
