Instead of talking about future expansion scenarios, let's talk about something that will actually be addressed by the Big(10)(12) in the next year: where to hold the conference championship game?

This might not seem like a big deal, and maybe it's not, but I think this will be a huge deal to the conference. Every Big 10(12) state will be angling to grab the game due to the revenue it will bring in to the city. Essentially, the conference championship game will bring 70,000 fans in early December for a weekend of spending a ton of cash. Here are my first thoughts on how it could play out...

1) Lucas Oil Field in Indy. Indianapolis already hosts the Big 10 b-ball tournament. It is a wonderful city. It's an easily walkable place, near a new airport, the stadium is only a few years old, the town is somewhat centrally located for all the Big Ten programs and would give Indiana football fans a reason to go to a game. I think this is the most likely scenario.

2) Ford Field in Detroit. Like Indy, it is somewhat centrally located, easily reached by highway or airport and is a newer facility as well. The game would be a boon to Detroit as well. However, there is the potential for this to turn into a default home game for Michig....oops, sorry, for a second there I thought Michigan sported a decent football team.

3) Cleveland Browns Stadium/Paul Brown Stadium in Cincy. Both would have the same benefits as Detroit, but would not be as centrally located. Further, these are outdoor stadiums with pro teams playing in December. I don't know that the field could handle that. We wouldn't want a Capital One Bowl situation on our hands.
