Actually, the Post Gazette thing is true from Gene Collier!!! They even talked about in on NFL Total Access.... on 32 teams in 32 days. This was the quote from Gene Collier that caught their eye...

Colon's injury on Monday gave new momentum to an unspoken countdown haunting Steelers hindquarters.

9 . . . 8 . . . 7 . . . 6

They were a 9-win team a year ago, with the quarterback generally upright and relatively upstanding. They were probably an 8-win team with the departure of Santonio Tweeter-dumb Holmes, probably a 7-win team in light of the formerly-upstanding quarterback's four- to six-week suspension. They look like maybe a 6-win team with Colon's Achilles unstrung.

Huh interesting but I did read this article and Sam is right they did talk about it on Total Access an Jamie Dukes also made the comment that the media should be drug tested for an article like that. Colon is a loss but they can put some one in there that can do just as well that does not concern me. Sweed we are talking about Hands of Stone Sweed here . Holmes yes he caught alot of passes but he missed alot too. It will actually be refreshing to not see Holmes showboat when he catches a pass, and throw his hands up in the air like it was some one elses fault when he missed a pass he should have obviously caught, I am sure once his 4 game siesta is over he will be missing Ben. Ben will only be out for 4 games and we will be fine them 4 games. Our season will not be over in them four games. Sorry to disappoint. People think because he will miss 4 games he will not be on his A game... Well he is no Rookie. I mean Farve missed all of training camp and it did not slow him down and I dont think it will Ben either he has something to prove now and he will ...Lets see if Colliers prediciton is correct , I think not.

People also seem to forget that we will be getting two of our main defensive players back and resigned some holes on D. I mean Hello Troy will be back and Aaron Smith, and Foote is back and McFadden and Taylor is in a contract year so I look for the D to be back to dominate form . That will be the difference and As it was pointed out on Total Access. Those 4 games that Ben will be out dont look for them to be high scoring . And Mike Wallace will be more than fine taking over for Holmes. He did very well last year and I look for more of the same this year.

Ok Sam,Retort.....................Obviously Yer a Giants Fan[can never count them out],But Who do You see at the end of the season?,I don't see them in the Playoffs this Year because they are a tad little of having the Talent too make it there.................please Prove Me wrong,What's the vegas odd's of making it ito the Playoffs then the SB,[probably better than mine]The team i'm rooting for is the bengals,so They are 30-1,where does Yer team stand? In Vegas?Since You made the predition of the Steelers this year,Let's see how yer team pans out.....& do You have anymore revelations. too share?

Hmmm, ok.
Well I never made any predictions yet, I normally wait till the final week of pre-season to make my predictions.

I was the crazy guy before the season started last year who said The Bengals will shock the division and the Steelers will miss the playoffs because of key injuries.. I remember being laughed at for that... ahh well

Off the top of my head right now...

On My Giants, No key linebacker and no punt returner worries me. The cowboys are the team to beat, I think they are complete enough to maybe host their own Superbowl. The Giants will be in the mix for a wild card but it's going to be very tough because the falcons, bears, 49ers (i think) all have good products to challenge for the playoffs. Not sure about Vegas odds, never really pay attention to those.

Yeah, I pretty much agreed on what Jamie dukes had to say (The doesn't happen very much..lol) I think sweed is a write off anyway, not really worth mentioning.

I won't be surprised if "Mendi" has 150 carries by week 5 and the Defense only allows 9.8 points a game. Where Letwich will have issues will be on short passes, slot position, where Ben used his height advantage, I wouldn't expect anything less than old school steeler ball not only for the first 4 games but even when Ben comes back. As long as they are healthy they should be a wild card threat. I'm not a big Steelers fan but I'm not dumb enough to say they will lay a 6 win egg...lol

July 8, 2010  10:01 AM ET

Everyone thinks Leftwich is going to lose most of the games he starts. Why? Is it because he is the backup quarterback? He has the whole preseason to get in sync with the first offense, not to mention he has had success both as a starter (Jacksonville) and even a backup, for Pittsburgh. I can't believe these analysts dog him for being a backup. I'm not saying these four to six games are guaranteed wins, but they are definitely not out. Let's face it, they're still the Steelers. No one has commented on the return of Randel El. He may not be lightning anymore, but you never know what he will do. I am surprised the Steelers haven't had any talks with Flozell Adams or other lineman available in free agency. He may not be the best fit, but he can block. The sad thing is, the rest of the division has made significant changes to become better. But I still like the Steelers to go 10-6 thanks to Leftwich, Mike Wallace, Hines Ward, Rashard Mendenhall (and Mewelde Moore as a backup to him), and a healthy defense. GO STEELERS!

And Troy Polamalu 100% healthy. + a healthy Aaron Smith.

Troy is more important to the team than [Sweed, Colon, Holmes and Ben missing 4-6 games] combined.

The numbers say when Troy is in the game [5 games 2009] the defense gave up 1.8 less defensive touchdowns [12.6 points per game] and forces 1.2 more turnovers than when he was not in the game [11 games 2009].

That translated into 4-1 with Troy and 5-6 without Troy.

July 8, 2010  11:00 AM ET

that should read:

Steelers gave up 1.8 less defensive TD's PER GAME with Troy. [only gave up 3 defensive TD's in Troy's 5 games played] .....[gave up 26 in the 11 games he missed.]

and forced 1.2 more turnovers PER GAME with Troy.

July 8, 2010  11:05 AM ET

Sweed is no loss, they have three very good QB's fighting for the starting position, and they got Randle El to fill Holmes loss (and he has 100% less baggage with him). They'll be fine.
