He's and NHL legend; the grit that makes the game so great. Even if he was a Red Wing he's still a big part of the NFL's legacy and he deserves some respect. Freakin' Lebron steals the spotlight from a real story.
Couldn't have posted your comment without including hate, dude? Rocker, your sentiments hit the nail on the head.

I kept waiting for an article as well. Very disappointing.
Probie is remembered as a heavyweight fighter but he had skills too and took a regular shift. Always stepped up huge in the playoffs, too.
Class act, humble family man, and also worked with several charities in Chicago and Detroit.
His best quote ever is about his own NHL legacy and what he remembers most "I just tried to make Stevie Y's job a tiny bit easier so that he could lead our team to Cup".
Damn, I shouldn't have had to download a torrent from a Canadian newscast to see Stevie Y's speech about his deceased friend. And I shouldn't have had to go to tsn or sportsnet.ca's sites to read about the details of this tragedy.
A tribute from Sports Illustrated to a guy like Probert would have been a nice break from the Lebron saga, and also a good reminder than all pro athletes aren't egomaniacs.
Sorry to offend Mom. I was just trying to point out that I am not a Detroit fan whining about one of my own, I'm just a hockey fan who appreciates what that dude was all about and think he deserved more respect.
I saw Probert play many, many times in person. I never thought he was 'dirty'........just a solid guy who gave it his all and tried to make sure his team mates didn't catch any bad shots themselves. He went through some rough times and I hope he was a happy man at the end. He died far too young. RIP Bob.

Well put Yoda.
Bob Probert has to be considered one of, if not, the best at what he did in the NHL. The fact that his death got literally no coverage is really pretty disgraceful. The only time I saw ESPN mention him was at the ESPYS, and as said here, SI didn't even give him a tiny blog.
RIP Bob Probert.

Thanks for clarrifying, dude. We can all agree SI's lack of coverage was very disrespectful.
RIP Probie.
