I can't believe he agreed to drop back down to 170.... Any fight is good for the UFC because they don't pay the fighters jack crap so they keep all of the proceeds from the PPV. As for what fight is good for shields, I say anything less than a title shot is a bust for him.... He was the 185lb champ for SF beating a top 5 guy from UFC in his last fight. He hasn't lost in how long??? So what does Shields have to prove by having to work his way up the ladder? For those that say that if he loses to the lower guys he shouldn't be fighting the champ anyway.... I say every streak comes to an end and any fighter can get caught at anytime. Just ask GSP...
In my opinion its a lose lose situation for Shields and the UFC if he doesn't fight for the title in his first fight.

I heard Condit and Hardy are already scheduled to fight in October. For 121 that means they can't give him Condit, Hardy, Fitch, Alves, Koscheck or GSP.

Thats means he'd be side-lined for months...if he's at 170 he would fight in 8-9 months at best if it was for a title. That figures GSP beating Koscheck in December and then defending in late March to early April.

Thiago is coming off of a loss to Kampman, so that would make no sense. Kampman not even a year ago lost to Daley who Shields has already beaten, so to me that one makes no sense for shields either...
