NFL  > General NFL  > Johnny Jolly suspended for 2010, Drank strikes again, GB fans the losers
July 16, 2010, 05:31 PM
The NFL has suspended Green Bay Packers defensive tackle Johnny Jolly without pay for the upcoming season and perhaps beyond for violating the league's substance abuse policy.

The league says Jolly's suspension begins immediately and will continue through at least the 2010 season. He will be eligible to apply for reinstatement after the Super Bowl.

Jolly is facing drug charges in Houston after his July 2008 arrest outside a club allegedly for illegally possessing at least 200 grams of codeine. If convicted, Jolly faces up to 20 years in prison.

Looks like we seen the last of Mr. Jolly, what a waste of a (potencial) great career.

Is this what JaMarcus Drank has to look forward too? 20 years, serve maybe 6 with good behavior. Talk about going from the Penthouse to the Outhouse.

Awe......that's too bad. This is a good message from the NFL, though. You shouldn't mess around with that stuff!!!!

Oh yeah!!,That's really exessive, for Couth Syrup........I guess in later times as the "JaMarcus-Drank"offense.......And That sux for Greenbay Fans..

JaMarcus is to be arraigned on Tuesday, by then they should have an amount. Seems it takes a week or two to figure out how much codeine is in the syrup.

What I have read it was a major two month drug investigation and his name and address kept coming up, he was not the focus of the investigation. They got a subpoena and "Raided" his house and found enough to arrest him.

Hammered,I want yer opinion on this Drug subject, please help me here,I know alot of stuff lands on the Nfl,but truth be known? It's happening now with all the other Pro-Sports too,I'm just asking about the NFL,Since they have a problem with"Pain -Killers"[Like codeine] and Pot,What do the Rules say about an injured player being shot up with a Muscle-ligament pain killer in "Lidocaine?"[or some other derivadive?],Is there a law about that?

It's all about ESPN News.
You say whaaa?
This kind of drug abuse has been happening in all sports for as far back as you want to go. Different drugs in different era's but the same basic thing.

It's the media's insatible appetite for stories that get peoples attention, better yet stories that get people to turn on their network channel to see who is in trouble and ultimately increase their ratings so the can charge more money for commerical time is paramount to anything else.

They just report it more now, it really started with Watergate. JFK used the Secret Service to set him up with female company when traveling without his wife, it was a gentlemens agreement you did not tell anyone. Same for sports figures, reporters knew all kinds of things but kept their mouths shut.
