This has nothing to do with "hate".
I, for one, love Shaq. he was responsible for shaking my Fandom from LA when he moved to Miami, and I rooted for them to get the title.

The problem is the way he left.
He said bad things about their medical staff.
he said bad things about the coach
He said bad things about wade...

why would MIAMI want him back now?
I understand they would benefit from a big men. but they have bog egoes there, and not just on their "big 3".
Shaq burned his bridges there...

it would be highly unlikely that they would forgive & forget.

I agree with Roni. Shaq has had an amazing career, but he is old now. There's something to be said about going out when you are still dominant, ala MJ in 1998. He already has made hundreds of millions of dollars in his career so he doesn't need the money. Playing now will just lower his stats, and like it or not, people tend to judge the all-time greats on stats (think of Wilt and Oscar as good examples).

I would have liked Shaq to have retired a few years ago when he was still dominant and people would think of him as the most dominant center ever. Because of the past few years, less people I believe think that way of him.

And to add, if Miami does add Shaq (even though I highly doubt they do), that team will end up with the same fate as Cleveland the last few years.

This team already has too many ego's as it is. Adding Shaq to the mix will only cause a locker room melt down, not that it is already heading in that direction.

You are correct on the part about people changing their view of his legacy as he plays longer. I actually find myself doing it even without consciously thinking about it. 2 years ago I was much more likely to give Shaq his due when considering the possibility of a dream matchup between Shaq in his prime against Wilt or anyone else, I used to be sure no player in NBA history has ever been able to guard shaq one on one. It's probably not right, but after seeing him less than stellar recently, I don't give him as much credit as I used to and I don't always think of him as unstoppable anymore. 2000-2004 I doubt anyone has ever been as difficult to guard as Shaq.

I like Shaq and I would love seeing him be a color commentator or something, but it's time the hang up the Nikes.

shaq regardless how much longer he plays is still possibly the best center ever. miami would be a perfect fit for him. he cant demand the ball anymore but he clogs up the lanes defensively. ask the lakers how valuable bynum was this last finals series even with a bum knee. his height and presence altered shots and made it difficult for boston inside with bynum not being a factor at all offensively. shaq still has value and could be used in the right system. stats are for espn watchers if you really watch ball you already know shaqs legacy is cemented as one of the greatest big men EVER.......

i love shaq but he is like a lil kid who dosent know how to burn bridges and be civil when leaving a situation.. i recall him slandering the team when he left and pat riley saying taking the high road and saying that he dose not understand why shaq was doing that when he got a ring in miami and that when he wanted to be traded they accomadated his wishes and even sent him to the team of his choosen.. and he still ran his mouth about pat saying basiclly phukkkk him and he can take it how he wants

I think you misunderstood his comment.
He mention that it would be nice if players would leave at the top of their game, like MJ did when he left in 1998...
Of course he came back, but most people would separate his career since there was that break in between, and no one even tries to say it was the "MJ they knew" when he was back...

But I agree that it would be nice if players didn't linger until they are a pale shade of their old selves....broken and humbled by father time...having opposing players lose respect and fear they once commanded...

Shaq was, without any doubt, the most dominant of all centers. I am not saying he was better. But no one EVER imposed so much with their presence than Shaq... and I doubt any will ever do it again.

I didn't think it was too bad. The problem was that he had even less to work with than he did in Chicago. Since MJ wasn't the player he used to be, he needed a stronger team to help him win. His team blew, so his decline was more evident.

If Jordan stayed retired he would've went out on top. Remember Jordan didn't want to retired he wanted the GM Jerry to be firer and when it didn't happen he left the Bulls. Jordan came out of retirement and played in Washington for two years. Even though Shaq is old and slow he's still one of the top ten centers in the nba, so I hope he keep playing until the wheels fall off just like Jordan,Larry,Patrick,Reggie,David,Charles ect. did

Orlando, LA and Miami...the dude never reach his potential, after his first 6-7 years, he was never in shape. He was the reason the Lakers lost to Detriot in finals. I think you are mistaken here...
LA - Shaq didn't fight with the club. he wanted to stay. It doesn't really matter if Kobe demanded or not, it was a decision they took to ship him to the heat.
Your accusation that he was responsible for the loss to Detroit is borderline ridiculous, as it is well documented that, if anyone was fighting, it was the mailmen & Kobe and not Shaq.

About the heat, he only fought with them after he left.
And with Phenix, it was personal with Nash (he stole the idea of the program he is doing)

yes, he did his bad things as any primadonna does, and deserves the doodoo from some players (like Nash). but it is ridiculous to say he is a bad player or person. This is a hater's talk. Nothing else.
