This isn???t necessarily an MVP award and doesn???t have to be a champion. FOY candidates come in all shapes and sizes. It can be someone who revitalized their career, shocked the world or simply put themselves top of mind for most fight fans.

#1: FABRICIO WERDUM

Hello! HE BEAT FRIKKIN FEDOR, I have had a running argument that Fedor does have a loss- Its down in the books as a loss- so its a FRIKKEN LOSS. But Werdum completely ripped any talk of the number one heavyweight in the world away from M-1. He did the impossible, and stopped Fedor. unless Werdum gets dropped in 15 seconds by Overeem, or GSP rips off Koschecks head and throws it to the crowd, expect Werdum to be here in December.

#2: Jake Sheilds

Just absolutly CRUSHED Dan Henderson- how is this not even on the Cagewriter radar? Jake is finally fighting on UFC 121, and I can???t wait to see this.
#3: Shogun

When Lyoto won the title by stinky-legging Rashad, all you read was Lyoto was going to hold the strap for a long, long time. Shogun???s loss in 2009 can be debated- but Shogun took Dana???s motto about the judges to heart and not only beat Lyoto- he treated him like he was nut-stomping Mark Coleman.
#4: Pat Curran

He went 4-0 so far, beating Roger Huerta and Tony Imada- I would go high as 2 on here, but I still think Imada won that fight.

The answer is of course "The Answer" .......Frankie Edgar.

Or at least he should have made your top 5.

Shlemenko has five wins this year already and four of them were TKO's, and three of them netted him the victory in the Bellator 185 Tournament.

no question about it Chris Leben. most fights, most wins, even on 2 weeks rest. And a rather impressive submission with arm bar/head triangle.

Leben showed resilience and heart.

And to think that he was all but finished after losing to Bisping and being suspended for using banned substances not long ago...
