So Michael Vick is trying to pull at the collective heart strings of the jury system and the general American court of public appeal alike. Vick, the one-time Atlanta Falcons superstar Quarterback busted for illegal dog-fighting activities on his property in Virginia, is trying to elude jail time like he eluded 300-pound defensive lineman.

First things first. Vick was caught doing these illegal activities to innocent dogs. Not just mistreating them, but savagely pitting them against one another and even killing them. The light begins to creep in on this terrible ???hobby??? that has permeated into parts of our ???culture??? as it were. Vick was nailed in part because of his high profile. All the more reason for someone in his position to mind their p???s and q???s. It is only common sense, something Vick is sorely lacking needless to say.

I would be more willing to buy what a convict is cooking moreso had the person in question come forward and admit their guilt, rather than try to hide behind lawyers. What we are seeing here is a fall from grace bordering on O.J. territory, minus a human carcass.

Now Vick is attempting to sell us another bill of goods by checking himself into prison early, three whole weeks before sentencing. He is banking on a lesser sentence courtesy of moving up his calendar 3 weeks. I hope that the authorities can examine this play for what it is: Another slick move by an elusive criminal. This time his speedy legs will not separate him from the defense and for that we should cheer.
