I don't buy into any preseason rankings. I'd rather wait till they start playing and then try to determine where the teams deserve to be ranked.

Yeah, but then what would we have to argue about? The pre-season stuff gets the blood flowing!
BTW...I totally agree. Pre-season stuff is just garbage (to get people argueing).

I disagree completely for argument sake. Bama wins their 15th title ;)

Now, we're rollin'
I can see everyone is getting about as stir crazy as I am.
tOSU will definitely be in the BCS NCG hunt all season. Unfortunately for them, Wisky and/or Iowa may be also.
Here is where a conference championship game will really help the Big10: instead of tOSU playing Wisky in mid-October and thus tagging one of the teams with an early loss, that same game can become a Clash Of The Unbeaten Titans Championship Game that the humans and computers love.
FWIW, I doubt there has ever been a case of a team returning 21 of 22 starters from a BCS bowl winning team and not being the overwhelming #1 pre-season pick. Hopefully coach Petersen has his team playing with a chip on their shoulder all season.
Of all the major programs tOSU seems to have the best shot at going undefeated. If they manage it they will almost certainly be in the final BCS game. A tOSU vs BSU game would be great to watch (I wonder if BSU could request its half of the field in the BCS game be painted blue).

Bah, they just need that chip for September. After that they can coast.
Thought it pretty interesting that the Austin American Statesman has Bama #1 in pre-season. I think it was Ohio State 2nd and Boise 3rd. Considering that they would really take no flack from putting Texas #1.

Now, that's funny whether intentional or not.

And that's precisely why so many CFB fans, myself included, refuse to take the Smurfs seriously.

I concur with JP and MG here!
I'm sure Ohio State will have a great team this year. Especially if TP can continue on his Rose Bowl performance.
I think preseason rankings are great for the fans, but of little meaning otherwise.
Come to think of it, post-season rankings are not all that either.
I just enjoy watching the game.
Preseason is a joke. But it's a fun topic starter, huh?

Eyes, my camp approves this message!
Maybe, but there is no real logic there.
SOS has no real bearing on how good a team is, it merely indicates how high of a hurdle a team has to go over to go undefeated. For some reason tons of CFB fans seem to think otherwise. An easy schedule doesn't equal an easy team to beat nor does a tough schedule mean you have a tough team to beat.
To put it another way just because the dude at the bar beats up five 80 year old guys it doesn't mean he can't beat up a 20 year old as well.

Good morning Arfi, I'm gonna try to leave this thread better than I found it! But I have to warn ya, I'm a biter!
For some reason, this off season has been tougher for me than year's past. No idea why.
I'm busy at work. I'm golfing as much as ever. Got plenty going on with the kids.
Usually, the weeks between Fourth of July and college football fly and I'm left feeling like summer went too fast. All I know is, I'm itchin to see some good football.
Later...
