MMA  > General MMA  > JDS on Roy: He's in my way... and I'm going to take him out of my way"

it's too big... try to copy & paste deleting the spaces...

Roni, I'm doing something wrong with the spaces.
Can you please paste the original link into tinyurl and repost this?

I'm actually starting to look forward to this fight. As first I thought it was a gimme for JDS, but I'm becoming a Roy fan a little, too.
If Roy pulls the upset on JDS, Roy will have his pick of the fast-food sponsorships. (Finally, an athlete who we know for a fact ACTUALLY eats tons of and loves the fast food he is selling!)

JDS wants to bang. Roy wants to lay on you with that gut. Man that would be gross, feeling that gut on your face...disgusting. Roy will grapple and take little nibbles out of your arms and legs until you quit.

Everyone knows the deal. JDS is going to try to keep it standing and KO Roy. Roy, will work for a takedown, and grapple. This is a lot closer fight them people realize.

Jim, I have been saying this from the get go.....

Roy has knocked out the last two guys he's faced (Schaub and Struve). Who's to say he'll be looking to go straight for a takedown?

I agree with this.
I don't think this is as clear cut as people write.
Roy is good both standing and on the ground.
JDS is a better standing, but is no slouch on the ground either.

I think this will start standing, but either guy can look for a takedown at some point. the difference is not that big in either place.
I still think JDS has the advantage, but it is not as clear cut as people think.

Hmmm Roy could get a title shot and he is a dlc fighter in ufc undisputed 10.

I would say Roy will not mind standing, but his gameplan Im sure will be to get it to the ground because JDS has never been tested there. No way in hell JDS wants to go to the ground, he wants to stand and look for a finish.

well, if he is on top, he won't mind.
After all, he has a brown belt in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, and must be (at least) very well versed, as he trains daily with guys like the Nogs, Machida and the spider.
I do think that Roy's belly might throw him off (how you stay on top???) but as long as he is on top, he might not be that uncomfortable.
