NBA  > General NBA  > Can the Knicks please sign Shaq, Iverson, and Mcgrady?

I'm slightly excited about seeing this team this upcoming season. However, I still want to see these guys play some more. Imagine this hypothetical situation.

Starting 5

Center Shaquille Oneal

PF Amare Stoudamire

SF Danillo Galinari

SG Tracy Mcgrady

PG Alan Iverson

These guys play 20 min a night. The first 10, and the last 10 of the fourth quarter when the games traditionally become more half court and defense oriented.

In the rest of the game, D'antoni plays his speedball up and down, no defense game. But in the fourth quarter you throw the veterans out, and/or whoever is hot at the time. You got a winning team.

To make room, you trade Wilson Chandler for a future draft pick, because if you sign Carmelo in 2011, he's going to go for no compensation anyway. The big 3 old vets would be willing to play for 1 year minimum contracts just to see how far they can get on 1 team. I think it's a good move, and an exciting team to see on a nightly basis. Even if they don't pan out, the Knicks wouldn't have changed the core team, and can still do what they were doing anyway.

If they get Shaq and Iverson instead of the Big Three it will be the Washed Up Duo.

How could that team ever practice with each other? lol Shaq, Tmac and Iverson can barely run and the rest of the team will try to run 7 seconds or less. It would still be an awesome way to tell the NY fans to lose their undeserved sense of entitlement the next time a great free agent class comes around. No NBA fans on FANNATION are more annoying than NY Knick fans.

Why does everyone hate any player that is past their prime? All three of those guys are valuable, but for some reason when a guy scores 30 points/game for a season and then later can only score 10-15, they are terrible people and don't belong in the league. Why don't people hate players that only score 10-15 points/game in their primes like; Anthony Parker, Shane Battier, Boris Diaw, Mo Williams, Manu Ginobli.....

That's an excellent question. I personally think Tmac could still contribute big without being a #1 option. I was very surprised Iverson failed the way he did last year because I thought he was much better than what he showed. Last year's failure makes me think Iverson probably can't come back this season. I think shaq destroys team chemistry at this point, but I respect what he has done in the past. There's no way it could work to put all of those guys together though.
