I read a story on yahoo that our favorite hothead, LaGarett Blout got into a fight with a teammate at practice.

Thoughts?

Mine: fights happen, yes. But he has anger issues, clearly there's a history here, or possibly one building..... what do we think the NFL should do?
August 19, 2010  03:11 PM ET

If Fisher doesn't care, why should we? Besides, how many fights have there been in training camps this year?

August 19, 2010  03:13 PM ET

I do agree he has anger management issues, but I don't think the NFL should do anything at this point. It's the 49ers problem right now-- they should handle it internally. If he hits a player from another team like he did with that guy from Boise last season, THEN the NFL should get involved.

Sorry, make that "the Titans' problem".

My only concern with this man is if it becomes common. That's my concern for anyone. Fights once might happen, yes. And I agree, they shouldn't jump on it. But I do think considering his "past" they should keep an eye out. And I'm pretty sure he's been involved in more than just that famous incident.. But I can't say for fact.

I woulda clocked the prick from Boise last year too, not that it was right...but...

He definitely has issues and you are right that there were issues before Boise. But I think that since he just lost his grandmother, his emotions are probably at an all time high, which is probably why he's getting a pass from Fisher.

The NFL is such a violent game that if he can't control himself, it will be apparent. And quickly. Lord knows Goodell won't put up with it if it does.

That's where things come into play. If it isn't right, you don't do it.
I'd never teach my students to fight. YOu can be angry, you don't have the right to hit someone. It's really that simple. If he was running his mouth, let him. Because now you are in trouble, and he isnt'

His feelings are at an all time high. The issue here, and now you are pointing almost to it, is that he can't control his emotions possibly. I lost about 6 family members in one year. Did I get like that? No. And I was dealing with children.

Oh I get it, but had that been me, knowing what that situation is like, probably woulda dotted with smart ass too. I wouldnt have proceeded to fight the crowd, and my coaches though...

Some of the background of the incindent is that he got his helmet ripped off on consecutive plays. After the second one he poped the facemask of the defender. The article I read made it sound like that was pretty much the end of it. No ranting and raving and continuing to fight for many minutes. It is practice, competing for a place on the team, competetive spirit and emotions are going to run high. I think that being a one time (so far) issue in training camp that it is no big deal.

August 19, 2010  03:40 PM ET

I dont know if the kid will make it or not, if he has issues or not. Im guessing he does, but for that one second, that one act, if I had lost a game like that, that some pos was in my face running his mouth, I cant blame him, I dont condone it, I get it.

Everyone handles things differently. Again, I'm sure if it becomes a common problem, it will be dealt with.

Hope he does not turn out to be another Milton Bradley, but my gut tells me he needs professional help.

August 19, 2010  04:00 PM ET

I think the NFL and we should take a wait and see attitude. If he goes off in a game, then jump on it. Going off in practice, although he does have a past, happens all the time. Some of these coaches wind these guys up and see what they do when they pressure is on.

Some even like a fiesty guy as long as he doesn't get flagged. OL's regularly defend the QB after a cheap shot and no one questions it, even if it draws a flag. A lot of players and coaches think you need to defend yourself and I'm not saying that is what happened. I'm just saying that NFL coaches take a "let it go" attitude more often than in college.

Say what you want about Milton Bradley, but the dude is a gamer.

Great player but 7 teams considered his talent not worth the trouble. He is on his 8th team in 11 seasons.
The laundry list of his temper problems

In all my years following baseball no other player ever got hurt arguing with an umpire, that injury cost the Padre's the division title.

Remember Lawrence Philips? Get rid of him.
