bottom line is the UFC is wasting time on lining up a big name fight to sell tickets. Lets be honest what would you rather see Belfort vs Silva or Okami vs Silva. Me I wanna see Belfort vs Silva.
Okami lost to Chael but so did Marquardt.
And Okami hadn't fought in almost a year before that fight against Sonnen.
Plus Chael lost to Demian Maia badly too and was still given a title shot.
On top of that Okami does hold a... win... over Anderson Silva.
I like this fight.

Hey, I broke this news already.
LOL true. You started the rumor.
I put it here for YOU, since it is a confirmation of what you said! :)

I don't like.
I would rather see both fighting next. they are cutting one of them out.
And also, Vitor was supposed to be the #1. This fight was supposed to be a tune up, and only because UFC is giving an undeserved rematch with Sonen.
I don't like it.

I don't like the immediate rematch for Sonnen either.
But, as for Okami, he clearly deserves to fight a top contender.
The first Okami Silva fight may have ended in a DQ from from Silva, but don't forget that Okami had accomplished the big thing in an Anderson Silva fight; he got him onto his back and was holding him there.
He has better Submission Defense than Sonnen, and he is also a great wrestler (not as good as Sonnen perhaps, but great none the less).

but that is exactly what I don't like about it.
The one that loses will not have a title shot.
I think both Vitor and Okami could have their shots. but pinning one against the other will kill one of this guy's chances for it.

You would have preferred Vitor vs Anderson and, at the same time, Sonnen vs Okami?
(with the winner of this latter going against the winner of the former?)
If that's the case, me too.

I don't quite like Sonnen vs Okami II, but I guess it would be better than an undeserved rematch for Sonnen.
Actually, thinking about it, it makes most sense.
Okami lost badly to Sonnen. So he has a chance for a rematch after his 2 wins. This would also be a rebound fight for Sonnen. Woever wins that would be the obvious choice for #1 contender...
one question though. What happened to Nate? he disappeared since his loss to Sonnen... he is not even on title fights talk.... just to think that up until february he was the only consensus #1 now he is not even on talks about plans to fight for the belt.... seems odd...

He's headlining Fight Night on September 15, against Rousimar "I want to break your ankle" Palhares.
So my question with the announcement of Okami vs Vitor is does this mean Silva is going to be out for a little while? If he did in fact have cracked ribs going into that fight it takes a while for those things to heal...

LOL @ the nickname :)
nah, I know about his fight. I just think it is funny he is not even on talks about being a contender.... now we have Okami, Sonnen & Vitor and nothing from him...

Last time I heard Silva won't fight again this year.

I know what you mean. But it's up to him to finish Palhares in convincing fashion and getting back into contender status.

Then this matchup makes sense to me. The winner will get Silva, the loser will probably get Nate or Chael. Or maybe the winner gets Chael since Silva will be out a while.
