NFL  > General NFL  > New Officiating Rule Is Retarted!
September 1, 2010, 09:29 AM
Yes Yes Yes, I know im bias because im a hardcore Colts fan (hardcore Rams fan too but this has publicaly applied to the Colts) and im sure there will be lots of haters saying its just Manning being a cry baby prick. But it makes sense. To impede the course of play for any amount of time (espically while the play clock is rolling) makes no sense at all. We all know this game is a matter of inches and seconds. While we are at it, lets just round off the spotting of the ball to the nearest yard??? They say they are worried about the safty of the officiating crew which I understand. To fix that, they either need to:

1. Make them all wear helments. It doesnt have to be anything big and gaudy to impede their vision. Officials in hockey wear helmets.

2. Add an extra official whose sole responsiblitiy is to stand close to the sideline and after the play is over spot the ball and get the hell out of the way. Similiar to a ball boy with athority...LOL

Yes I know that means the NFL would have to pay for an extra official that game, but if they are truly all about safty and at the same time improving the quality of the game... something will be done

Or you could except the new rule, and move on.

While I agree something needs done for the hurry up offenses, I like not having the official in the middle, to many teams liked to use them in their routes to shield their W.R.'s from a defender, which is one reason why they were getting hit/run over and hurt.

Also another interesting note I saw was that if he is back behind the QB (which makes it 2 officials now behind the QB), who the hell is now going to be keeping a close eye on the D-linemen for holding and all other crazy stuff they do? Now you have another guy watching the offense for penalties.

I officially object your objection. It is obviously clear that you are also bias in this in the fact that you are also retarTed. I would also like to point out that not all of us are as pathetic as you and have to troll around and point out grammer mistakes. Its football talk, get over it. But we can make a deal, you dont troll around telling anyone else how to spell, and I wont throw rocks at you while your turning tricks on the Vegas strip.

When are we going to all agree that we cannot all agree?

Hey we cleaned up the Strip, we sent all that crap downtown.

I think your idea of officials wearing helmet is a good one, so much so one has to ask "why don't they"?

Years ago they used to have steel poles for 1st down markers and someone (can't remember who it was, but he was famous) broke his leg on the sideline and it ended his career.
Now of course the poles are collapsible and the linemen are instructed to drop them if the play comes their way.

Agreed the new rule is going to suck, also agree with Sweet cakes as some words are very offending.

YOU'RE a lot more even tempered than I am, SweetCakes. You could have pointed out all the other mistakes, but you didn't. You could have pointed out the irony of such a post in which the OP could not successfully spell ****. Or you could have posted that this guy is obviously biasED. But you didn't. Good for you. I'm glad you took the high road and didn't say anything about apostrophes and capitalization and spelling. Your responses have that much more aUthority for your restraint. Good job.

HAHAHA, my bad guys. I was at work having a bad day. One idiot flushed her blackberry in the toilet, one ran his over with his mower another moron decided it was a good idea to rewire the video conference unit 10 min before an executive board meeting.

I never claimed to be an English professor or a spelling bee winner. I just like to talk about good football ideas.... So I vote that if people are going to criticize other people's grammer instead of talking about the subject at hand, then SI needs to build in a damn spell check...LOL

From what I've seen, the chain gang are pretty collapsible, too.

Was there any "reasoning" behind the banning of helmets?

Only that it would cost an extra $.37 per helmet to make ponytail-friendly helmets.

Finally, an agreement on FN?!
