Dixon. The O-Line is a weakness. Dixon brings escapability to the table and that will be needed. For as much as Ben gets sacked, he often makes big plays by avoiding the first passer rusher and extending the play. While Dixon will not shake off a tackler, he can out run pretty much anyone. I really want the Steelers to hand him the keys and see how far he can take them in the first four.

Yea thats a good point. Batch has some mobility as well, obviously its not close to the levl of Dixon but he has i'd say about the same or close to the mobility of Big Ben. I like Batch because he won't turn the ball over and will simply manage the game, which is all the Steelers will need out of their QB because they should be running heavy with Mendenhall. If Steelers enter week 5 2-2 they should be very happy.

I agree PGH with our O-line Dixon is the better choice he has the run for your life escapability to him,. He isnt as strong as Ben but is faster, and it exciting to watch , JMO I think we need to see what we got and see where we will be before Ben gets back , I think Dixon is our best option. Batch cannot take all the hits he will receive. I just think Dixon will be the best option for the 4 games and I think he gives us the best option to win, but I will support and cheer for whoever they decide, But I am thinking whoever they decide on , as long as they dont turn the ball over our D will keep us in it. So I think we will still be OK I was more concerned with Lefty starting. I hated to see him get hurt , But I wasnt sold on him, nor impressed.

Another good point and the Steelers will probaley go with Dixon. He's looked good. My only argument for Batch being that he is a veteran and smart player who shouldn't turn the ball over. Dixon is a younger and more athletic guy who obviously has better scrambling abilities but he will probaley make more mistakes and have plenty of tournovers, especially fumbles. And if im the Steelers i dont wan't that kind of boom bust play out of my QB in these 4 games, i just wan't someone to settle in and hold down the fort. Just manage the game pound the ball with Mendenhall and don't turn the ball over and if thats the game plan then i go with Batch.
It will be very interesting to see who they go with and how Dixon/Batch perform. Both are solid and should do fine.
It is a difficult decision, no doubt. However if I'm Tomlin and the Steelers brass, I'm thinking "who gives me the best chance to salvage the season." and that choice is Batch. Ben will be back with 3/4 of the season left so anything is possible. If it was a 6 or 8 game suspension, I'd go with Dixon. But Ben is CLUTCH and he is coming back.
By all means, put Dixon in here and there to get him experience and let him do his thing. But manage the game, don't turn the ball over and hold the fort til Ben returns.
Man that's a tough one. I say give the young Dixon a shot and if he completely fails go with Batch. Batch is a good QB, no doubt, but his career is over and it's time to give the athletic young Dixon a shot. He could be good leverage in a trade next year if he's a new phenomenon.
I think you go with Dixon but he s on a very short leash. They can't afford costly INT's like in the Denver pre-season game (and the Baltimore game last year). Dixon is in his third year and they have to see what he can do. If he fails, then they need to look for another QB next year.
Give Dixon the ball. He's younger and got more potential than Batch. Plus, he's been impressive in the preseason. Give him the ball and see what he can do.

Thats me LGP , I am not concerned with who they put in there , all they have to do is not mess up and keep us above water till the big fella gets back.
BTW love the new name. He not only sucks he blows too...HEHE

Batch. What exactly has Dixon shown except he might possibly be the next Michael Vick (has to run because he can't throw accurately)?Mobility will only go so far .... eventually you have to throw the football at his position.Besides ... how much "developing" do you think Dixon is gonna get with a probable maximum of 4 starts this year?
You make good points. After reading MMQB on SI's homepage I think I'm more in the Batch camp. He'll probably retire soon so starting a few games would give him one last shebang.
