i think Mir still has a couple years left as for Cro-Cop i dont think his heart is really in it he will probably retire real soon i thought he was after Barry but i guess we never know till it happens lol
I disagree.
I think people are still clinging to 2009 when a disheartened Cro Cop said he wanted to quit.
A week later he completely changed his training team, he revamped everything and signed a new contract with UFC.
So I don't htink he is looking to retire. Maybe what we are seeing is the change in training. it always deep a bit before showing your improvement.
now, to the question at hand, I don't really see either dominating the HW division again. Maybe Mir could if he was not so unstable (some flashed of brilliance and some subpar performances), but that is not the case.
So IMO it may seal the deal for the loser, and give the winner a last run. But in any case, i just don't see them winning it

I agree Roni, people read far too much into a couple of interviews where Mirko was disheartened by tough losses.
The man is still 27-7, with a 5-1-1 record in his last seven fights.
Plus he is the biggest draw that his part of the world has ever known. He isn't going anywhere.
I love how you say it has to be nuthugging but then you fail to see everything he did since that interview right after a heartbreaking defeat against JDS.
You also forget that maybe the deep is not him losing his skills or heart (he is 36, BTW, far from old).
It could simply be the change of rules, the change to an octagon, etc. but now that he is adapting, he can go back to his dominant ways.
You are the hater, bro. Are you affraid he will KTFO Lesnar???
I mean, why are you trying so hard to end the guy's career?

that was supposed to have a smiley at the end....meant it as a joke!
I don't see Cro Cop KO'ing Lesnar.... but that it would be funny as hell, it would :)

QUOTE(#10):
Pat Barry beats him easily if he wasnt in awe of Cro Cop. You saw that 1st round didnt you?
I saw Pat Berry get the better of the exchanges before Mirko let his kicks fly and Barry gassed.

Realistically, how much different is Lesnar now than Waterman was in 04'? Not much.
Mirko has fallen a good bit since then, but it is not completely unthinkable for me that he could survive with good defensive BJJ for the first two or three rounds and then dominate in the championship rounds if he comes extremely dedicated and in shape.
There are a lot of guys who I think that Mirko's chances against in the UFC now are almost non-existent. That is to say I can't envision a realistic way he could win.
Brock Lesnar is not one of those fighters. He is one dimensional, and that one dimension is extremely good. But he can be drug out of that and into deeper waters and he can be beaten by a smaller and more in shape heavyweights.

In what way?
The Bad bad. The not good bad. Not the 80's slang bad..
Mir is just Mir. I don't know what to think of him. He shows bits of brilliance but then he gets his **** stomped on. Then Cro Cop is just past his prime.

QUOTE(#17):
Barry broke his hand then his foot C.
That is what happens when you get dragged into deep waters by a guy like Cro Cop who is going to effectively check your kicks (which is probably where the foot got broken) and is willing to take some shots to give them back.
I've broken my foot during TKD competition and my fat a ss was able to continue at 100% till the end of the match. Pat Barry has no excuses.
I do see where you are coming from, but that was part of Mirko's gameplan in dragging him into the later rounds. Mirko's perseverance and tactics were what made him the winner of that fight, and it was still a clean win.
Cro Cop gets submitted or (gasp) KOed and I can see him retiring.
A pity most guys never saw him fighting in his best years. The Cro Cop of, for example, 2003, would have obliterated Frank Mir.
In 2010 I am betting on Mir to win the fight.

I have a hard time seeing how Mir gets him down.
