ARIMA, Trinidad - Canada was outdueled by Ireland, allowing a 76th-minute goal and falling to the European runners-up 1-0 on Thursday to leave it needing to win its group finale to assure itself of advancing at the Under-17 Women's World Cup.

The result, along with Ghana's 1-0 victory over Brazil left all four teams in Group D with three points, but Canada and the Africans at the bottom with only one goal scored in two games.

Canada likely will have to defeat Brazil in the last round of group matches on Monday to earn a quarterfinal berth and match its performance in 2007.

The CONCACAF champion played the Irish even, with Sabrina D'Angelo keeping Canada even until late in the first half, when Siobhan Killeen beat the Canuck goalkeeper with a shot from distance.

Haisha Cantave and Alexandra Courtnall tested Irish keeper Grace Maloney with chances in the 20th minute and again late in the match.

D'Angelo thwarted Killeen and Megan Campbell in consecutive efforts in the 53rd and 57th minutes but was out of position to deny Killeen's winning effort in the 76th.
