NFL  > General NFL  > Maybe Farve could have used some fine tuning, think it's called Training Camp

What I saw was a very rusty QB that hit 2 passes at the end of the 2nd quarter (which I missed because the Miss St. Auburn game was fantastic and I caught the highlights later, but I did see most of the second half) and got a touchdown.

Zero completions in the 3rd quarter. That's saying something. They'll find their sync eventually, but I wonder if it will be too late.

And that is why the Vikings were dumb for bending over backwards for this guy! They should have just signed Garcia who actually wants to be a team player!

Bit of a disappointment for a season opener.....

September 10, 2010  07:12 PM ET

Vikings could have had a chance for McNabb, but instead they knelt before Farve. In fact.. T-Jack might even have looked better against the Saints. I didn't see Farve do anything in that game that was worth 20 million or prove why he can just skip training camp.

So agreed, disappointing season opener..

I wonder how some players can give their 'all' when there is such a disparity in salaries?

O-line man making around $800,000 a season.

BF making what is it now around $18,000,000?

Read an article earlier this week that suggested the reason they traded Sage Rosenthal was so they could take his salary and add it to what BF was already making.

Talk about putting all your eggs in one basket.

Tarvaris Jackson will be the man if/when BF either can not get it done or gets hurt, followed by (Rookie) Joe Webb. Webb QB'd for Alabama Burmingham he was drafted 199th overall as a receiver then converted back to a QB.

it's more in line with $18/m with potential incentives that can pust it to $20m. and i totally agree w/ the sloppy performance.... i don't now how his players can support this man that comes in at the last minute 2 yrs in a roll and actually give "it their all" for him. it seems there is so much acceptance and expectations that "farve" alone will guide this team to the SB...... won't be as pretty as last season.

Not to mention Chilly giving A.P. heck publicly about missing camp, monkey see monkey do. Not a good way to build TEAM chemistry and comradeship, it's understandable if he's uncertain about his ankle but he could have shown up and at least thrown with his team rather than a high school teams players. That at least would have shown he was willing to be a TEAM player, then again that would mean Favre would have to go by the TEAMS schedule rather than his at his own leisure. I don't know who to lay more blame on though, Favre or Chilly, I guess they both are to blame one for doing it and one for allowing it to happen and sending 3 players to persuade/escort Favre back to Minnesota, desperate men do desperate things though.

I also hate when the media says..."well he has earned the right to skip camp"... are you kidding me the likes of Tom Brady and Peyton Manning have accomplished more in less time and you don't see other seasoned vets not showing up just because they don't feel like it. This guy and his one ring from 14 years ago hasn't earned much in my opinion.

September 11, 2010  07:59 PM ET

I think this will truly be his last year, his body can't take much more and not going to training camp every year just seems to put him in a hole.......

It seems that way, but,I ain't giving up on the "Old Guy"just yet,Lotta Football too play yet.

Its just that I read somewhere that he still has bone spurs in his ankle, that can't be feelling well if he's on it all the time, plus it takes longer for the body to heal as you age, even for football players....He seems to think he has something to prove.....

September 11, 2010  09:20 PM ET

I think its an ego thing for Favre, he like people fawning all over him during the off-season to convince him to play one more year, some players just don't know when to quit....

What does jumping the shark mean? That makes no sense to me

Jump the shark is a term used a tv series when one of the main characters do something ridiculous in the story arc to try and boost ratings. the reason it is called jumping the shark is because the character of fonzi was one of the first characters to do this in happy days.
