NCAAF  > General NCAAF  > Buckeyes class act
September 11, 2010, 08:13 PM
Today I watched Ohio State play mistake free football. Miami had numerous oportunities to put points on the board but killed themselves with penalties and mental mistakes. From what I saw they still could win the ACC if they can become more disiplined. The defense played well considering the positions they were put in by the offense, overall I thought they did a good job against tOSU.
I was most impressed at the end of the game when Tressel just ran the clock out instead of shoving it down Miami's troat. Class act.
Good luck to Ohio State.

Thanks MoJo-- good luck to Miami as well. I won't lie-- I was concerned coming into it. Miami did make a lot of mistakes, but it is obvious they are on the way back to the caliber of their glory days.

And Ohio State was hardly error-free. Special Teams play still concerns me, as does Pryor's decision-making. But overall, I'm pretty pleased. And I do love my coach...

Nice post, Mojo. I think Miami hung in there pretty well today--nothing to be ashamed of. And I agree, Tressel is one of the classiest coaches in CFB.

Good luck MOjo. JT does not care about running up the score and 'style' points that impress the BCS. I think Harris will do well. I've gotta say that our defense is pretty sick. 5 points per game average so far!

September 11, 2010  08:34 PM ET

Nice post MoJo. Impressed that Harris kept his poise despite adversity and played fairly well down the stretch even with the cramping.

The defense was stout today. We had better shore up the special teams--kick coverage was awful. TP also didn't look sharp for most of the game passing. He missed a number of open receivers. That said, we will take a quality win over a quality opponent.

Wish the U success with the rest of its season.

You stay classy, FN.

You are a class act as well MoJo.

Not the game I was expecting to see. Did not expect several picks from Jacory. Did not expect our special teams to implode. Didn't expect that we wouldn't be able to finish drives (no insult intended to Hurricane D, I just thought our offense was going to do better than that).

Certainly didn't expect Cameron Heyward to run that far with an interception.

I'm glad that Miami is on our schedule again for next year. Win or lose, you have to get tested against good, fast teams like that.

All things considered, of the two teams, Miami will come out of a loss like this much better than the Buckeye's could have. A loss for us would have blown our season off the tracks before it even got started (like USC the past two years). But, for the Hurricanes, I humbly feel like you won't get a harder test on your schedule until your bowl game. And, that should make for the final step forward for the program. I'd love to see 'em take the ACC and get a BCS bowl. After seeing them yesterday, I know they have the talent to do it.

Luckeye fans are of course delusional. Miami handed them 4 turnovers and yet they barely won by 12 points. Miami was clearly the better team and of course the complete and udder lack of ANY speed on the Ohio State team was evident.Ohio State is and always will be a joke. I don't respect them and should they somehow make it to yet another BCS game they will of course get smoked by an SEC team.

Wow, I played some sports in my time, coached a few, and always considered the team with the most points, runs, etc. were the winners. No dispute whatever. I may be a bit delusional, but at my age no one cares.

Mojo, nice post. It is rare to find such a good sport as yourself. Tressel is quite the coach and an excellent man too. I fell your school has such in R. Shannon also.

The two returns for TDs did make our special teams look bad, but my fellow Buckeyes need to look at the total return yards, before calling all of tOSU's special teams bad. (OSU 152, UM 125). So both teams sputtered a little overall. This happens when two good teams match up. I wish your team well and think y'all have a good chance of taking the ACC.
Looking forward to playing y'all in Miami next year.

RAT-RB, I notice you haven't showed up on your own message board of "write it down". You and your kind are what give certain teams a bad name. If OSU is the joke, then you are the punchline.
Your team LOST, get over it!

GO BUCKS!!!!!!!!!!!

RAT-RB isn't a Miami fan, or an SEC fan for that matter. I doubt he even watches college football. He just likes stirring the pot and getting Big10/tOSU fans riled up.

Last year he was DemsAreTraitors and did the same stuff. If you want to mock him it can be entertaining, but taking him seriously and trying to engage in any sort of debate is a waste of your time.

congrats to the buckeyes and their classy win... JT could have ran up the score but showed us some mercy.. maybe having a nice guy as a HC pays off once in a while (in miami's case, as JT didnt shove it up RS's behind)

with that being said, what terrible execution by miami's O this weekend. the D was alright, not bad, not good, but OK.. ST's were suspect.

in our case, the problem is coaching.. our staff is probably one of the worst of the top 75 teams. how do you go in to the biggest game of the season and the players dont know the plays? it all falls on the HC, and shannon can g t f o

OSU needs to tighten up their ST's just a lil, and they are good to go (although miller and tb3 are fasssssst).. solid performance all around IMO.. championship coaching will bring you championships soon enough

September 13, 2010  12:23 AM ET

let me clarify that post, i wasnt saying JT isnt classy (i can see how it might be taken the wrong way), just saying he showed what class he has because our HC is classy

Thank you for clarifying. Because, here in the Buckeye Nation, we sometimes worry as to whether or not you respect us.

Lest we forget...the victory would have been minimum 15 point margin, possibly 19 points, if Tressel wasn't such a respectful competitor. In fact, that's part of the point of MoJo's thread.

Agreed, tOSU could have closed out drives better. If just one or two of the 5 field goals had been converted for a touchdown instead...it could have been ugly.

But, Miami D had something to say about the poor field position the turnovers created. And, they stepped up, forcing FG attempts on 6 drives. I thought they played extremely well with what they were given.

But, in the end we put up 34 points while our D only surrendered 10. That's should win every time.

Why the h*ll do I keep responding to your BS? I guess I just truly want your brand of low level thinking to be reasoned out of existence.
