NFL  > Pittsburgh Steelers  > Time to Shut the media up and get them off our backs.
September 12, 2010, 11:43 AM
Well here it is my weekly love letter to my favorite team the Steelers. I have been staying away as of late because of the mess that was what I like to call the offseason from Hell, The media did not help this , so I thought well the season is upon us and the media will get off of the Steelers woes,. Well guess what that is what I get for thinking. Yes Ben got suspended well that is nothing that us as fans can change, But you know what Ben is not the whole team, and what I see as a whole, we still have a good football team. With or without Ben, I will miss seeing the Big fella out there and his heartstopping play but I will have to wait a few more weeks for that . But as a whole we now have the same defense that we had in 08 when we won it all and flew under the radar. Troy and Smith are back healthy and Woodley is out to prove why he deserves a big contract and Harrison is out to wreck havoc since the media has been saying he has lost a step. Well I havent seen where he has lost anything, but I see him being the beast he always was.

ANd guess what Ben was hurt at the beginning of that season as well , had a bad shoulder. So there you go., Out Offense even without Ben is a good group, we have some of the best recievers in the league IMO and the most underrated TE in the league, Our line is a question mark but with Dixons escapability , I dont look at that as an issue.

Dixon for now is our starter , till Ben returns , I think he can handle this and keep us in the hunt . But this morining watching pregame on NFL Network, We are in trouble with Dixon. Rolls eyes

Well so this is what I am saying, I know that without Ben we still have a good team and I think they will shock alot of people. So what they need to do right now is go out and shut up the media and the only way to do that is go out there and do thier thing and win some for the fans. Because at the end of the day, we are the ones that matter the most. Not the media...

So I am looking forward to a smash mouth season. Good luck to everyones elses teams. GO STEELERS>>>>

Great run from Mendenhall to seal it, glad to see an Illini product do well. I think the defense and run game will be able to carry the Steelers while Big Ben is out..

What a game! Dixon didn't look too bad, not great but not horrible. I'm a little worried about playing better teams though.

I agree Rocker and I left Mendy out of my post that was an oversight because I know he will be a key player.... Atlanta is a good team. The Ravens is the only one that has me concerned right now ...I think Dixon done well and will only get better. But Our D and Hines and Mendy all need to be patted on the back. Hope Big Snack is Ok and able to go next week we will need him against the Titans, Hope Starks is OK too, but we did OK without him....JMO

Good win BBT. Dixon played solid. Defense stepped up. I was hoping we would go at least 2-2 in the first four and taking care of the Falcons certainly helped.

Don't get me wrong, I'm thrilled the Steelers pulled this one out, but Dixon is going to need to be a whole lot better for this team to do anything better than 2-2 without Ben and to keep from being 1-3.

While he did improve in the second half, a real defense would have picked off at least 1, if not 2, more of his passes. He was short-hopping balls all day. His decision making was so-so and I was really worried that one drive when he thought they had a first down and were 2 yards shy. Furthermore, I heard on the radio this morning that he said he was glad he didn' have to throw a pass in OT...that's just scary.

Happy to be 1-0, the Defense looks great, but Dixon has a ways to go.

My prediction for next week in Tenn.

The game will have the most combined rushing attempt of any game in 2010.

Ed Zachary. Might be the most ever.

Good win Steeler fans and congrats, glad to see the Illini product Rashard Mendenhall producing for the team and fans, I've been a fan of his since watching play for the Illini.

Cowboys sure could have used Flozell last night.

Good start for the Offensive line.

Yes he will have to pick up his play. Hope the D plays like this all year.

I am skeptical about everything they say, everything they predict, and everything they hype, and I see the media only as karma drainers looking for a sexy story. Screw them. Football games are won on the field, not in the media. And that's what the Steelers did Sunday.

I agree 100% Ripper the media creates these firestorm stories about teams and their players to sell their magazines and draw attention to their prospective websites regardless of the impact the B.S. stories has on the players and their teams. Then the hating fans and Trolls use these articles to spread their hate a discord to these forums for their own twisted desires.

Agreed. Let's hope Hampton getting hurt in the first game is not a sign of things to come. Polamalu proved again how invaluable he is. We'll need Troy and Aaron Smith healthy all year to keep up with that type of performance.
