I have been a Niner fan for all of my 40 years on this planet. I can not remember a more disappointing or embarrassing performance than today. Truly dreadful on all fronts.

Was worse,Damn!! that xux,but suck it up,till next week,Ladies and Germs,On any given Sunday.......
True enough Easy... I give Cincy a pass since they were playing the Pats, Zimmers Defense should have benn more prepared but the 49ers defense should have rolled... It was very dissapointing to see!

That was an example of how poor coaching decisions, and terrible passing can change the momentum of the game. Jimmy Raye and Alex Smith have been given plenty of offensive weapons and so after they have proved that they don't know how, or when to use them. They are off to a poor start in their attempt to prove that they can win on the road. Next week when they play New Orleans at home on Monday Night things will only get worse. Their next road game after N.O. will be K.C. and if they can't win in K.C. then you better forget them making the playoffs, and hope that they can draft a QB in the first round.

Whoa!!!!!! No **** way Mike Singeltary Phuced it all up!???,Better go with some other lamehassed excuse!! or are you saying Mike csux?
He is the coach and he makes the decisions as to who plays. The moment the score reached 31-6 Singeltary should have protected his starting QB and put in Carr. I thought SF would win and for all intents and purposes they should have. I never said he was responsible for Smiths futility but it is the coach that keeps him in the game when he is clearly having a difficult day. Like I said weeks before the season started this first game may be the determining factor as to weather the 49ers make the playoffs or not. I do not see them having a record of +.500 for the first half and the season and their bye week. Who do you think the 49ers are capable of beating in their first 8 games. Remember they are terrible on the road and they play Atlanta and Carolina on the road. Sure I'd love to see them win the west but when you see a game like this it is disheartening.
A 'Hawks fan here. I have a lot of respct fo the Niners organization, and I hate to see what's happened to them the last several years. But a lot of people have forgotten that the 'Hakws are still a pretty decent team that's had some real injury problems the last couple of years (I didn't say they're great, but solid, at least). It shouldn't be so surprising that they (eventually) came to play. Our D played great, and the offense finally showed up.
I did think the Niners D hung in there tough all day. Again, lots of respect for them. And I like Singletary. But the 'Hawks aren't quite as bas as everyone wants to make them out to be.
I really need to find a new team for which to root. I'm afraid that the Niners will never again be the team that captured my attention as a ten-year-old boy. The frustration is bubbling over. I'm gonna have to renounce my fandom or suffer an ulcer.

Then you would be a fly by night fan...
A true fan sticks with his team through the good and the bad...the Bears have not won since the 1985 season, but I would never support another team...Your football team is like your wife, to death you part...lol
It was just a badly played ball game all around, for the 49ers. They shouldn't try to lay claim to the NFC West title just yet. They still need a QB. No matter how you look at it, Alex Smith sucks as a starting QB in the NFL.
Twice in the first half Seattle stopped him and San Fran inside the 10.
Then, Smith threw one of those scattershot passes he's been known for, to a wide open Norris at the goal line on fourth down. Things just ugly for the 49ers after that.
They burned through all of their time outs way before the first half ended.
They went 3 and out on five of six posessions in a row.
Their defense even let Matt Hasselbeck score on a naked bootleg. I thought he was supposed to be "old and slow" going by what all the haters had to say.
But in Dec., Seattle travels to the bay area and things will more than likely be reversed. Seattle should savor this one as long as they can, cuz I doubt this will happen again.
Good job to the Seahawks and Pete Carroll. Seattle sorely needed that lift.

Be that as it may, this freaking team puts me in a palpable bad mood. I am far too emotionally vested in their success. I have to ease up. To continue the marriage analogy, she's really let herself go. She lost her job and she doesn't cook or clean. I've been encouraging her but she seems content with her current state. I need to consult a divorce attorney.
