Highly unexpected. But a very interesting fight!

Didn't see this one coming......

Whoooo Hooooo!!!

I can't wait to see Matt crying out in pain or passing out or lying unconscious on the ground!!

Please BJ, come in shape, I beg you.

Hopefully Matt watched the BJ/Frankie fight....

So he can somehow magically be faster than BJ now? No way.

He still can't move in and out as fast as Edgar did, and his shots (takedown shots) are way slower and more telegraphed.

His only road to victory is the same as it always is when he fights real fighters: hold on for dear life when they dominate you and hope they get tired.

Yeah but thats the thing... Bj always gets tired. I say Matt out wrestles him and wears him down in the 1st and 2nd and domintaes him in the 3rd.... BJ doesn't have the cardio for it.

Exactly. I bet BJ doesnt break a rib this time and puts it on Hughes.

Just like everyone was betting BJ would dominate Frankie in their rematch as well..... Hughes isn't going to stand their and let BJ out box him. Matt will push BJ against the cage and take him down and wear him down. Bj has suspect cardio and it will show again.

Well Penn dominated Huges in the first fight and dominated him in the 1st 2 rounds of the second fight until he broke a rib. I really do not see what you're seeing but I guess we'll have to wait til Nov 20th. I think Penn beats Hughes up on the feet.

I just think Hughes will out wrestle him... Bj looks disinterested in fighting right now. Like he is just going through the motions of being out there.

All of BJ's last 4 fights have seen the fourth round, and he hasn't been gassed terribly in any of them the way he did in Hughes II.

He has even had more gas in the tank in the later rounds than guys like Florian and the cardio-freak Diego Sanchez.

And let us not forget that Matt is getting old. He is 36 with 52 pro fights. BJ is only 31 and has had only 23 fights, and even when he loses he doesn't get beat up (unless it is GSP).

UFC 63 was a long time ago. And if Matt Serra could do enough to nearly finish Hughes and win a decision in the eyes of most fans, how will Hughes deal with a BJJ guy the likes of Penn?

QUOTE(#11):

If that were true I not not know wht he would call Dana and ask for a fight ASAP. What is his motivation for fighting? its not money. So why fight if he is disinterested?

Thats the real question indeed. After losing the first fight with Frankie I expected to see a fired up BJ... But nope that sure didn't happen. Don't get me wrong a motivated BJ that actually trains will beat Matt, but I just haven't seen it in his last 2 fights...

September 14, 2010  12:05 PM ET

ugh, really don't care much of this fight. Matt should take the rest of the year off like he said he would before getting his tail whoop. I figured Matt will just fight random fighters to keep having a career and make money. I love Matt but don't see him beating Penn at this point in his career.

I don't either.

Agreed, this fight means nothing for both careers and I don't see the draw of over the hill Hughes vs sliding down the hill Penn

Does this mean BJ is trying to go up to 170? I hope not.

I think BJ takes it this time, making the series 2-1.

I don't see too many fighters who can beat him at 170 other than GSP.

I also think we see GSP go up to 185 within the next 2 years permanently. Fights like Koscheck, Shields, Fitch, Alves, Hughes, Thiago, these are all fights that I would favor BJ in.
