NFL  > General NFL  > Nice Game Chiefs and Cussword Jim!

Well, the fears I explained on SweetCakes' thread all pretty much came true. The crowd noise visibly impacted Rivers, the Chiefs running game, pass rush, and coverage was pretty solid, except on a couple of occasions (e.g., Naanee bomb), and a couple of big plays and special teams domination was all it took.

Chiefs played a better game and deserved the W. Chargers have a lot to work on. Their penchant for giving up big running plays is getting old. But then again, Charles is a very elusive runner, and he just did his thing once he busted through the hole. The punt return by McCluster was sweet (if you are a Chiefs fan). That dude looks great, and I had heard he was out sick. Didn't run like he was sick, to his credit. The Chiefs contained Sproles all night, probably the most surprising aspect to the game to me, aside from 1st down goal on the 6 in the final minute and a complete stall. I was thinking "this TD is money in the bank - d'oh!) The rain certainly did not help. When it subsided, I felt like the Chargers instantly got a breath of new life. But it was only temporary.

All in all, I was hopeful for the W, kinda mad with the Division L, but not all that surprised in retrospect. The Chargers aren't as good as they've been in the past, although some aspects of their game looked better. They really put the clamps on Cassel, except for the play action pass at the goalline that everyone in America saw coming except the Chargers D, and I liked the CB play for the most part. The run D needs some work. And Special Teams - that was a surprise to be outplayed on ST. Well, back to work Boys! There are 15 more games to go. Be better prepared next time!

I'm wondering if Jim will ever come back. I hope he does!

Not like they EVER get a chance to practice in the rain. It never rains during NFL training camp. Case in point, 100 miles north is Dodger Stadium, they have had 15 rainouts since 1962, it never rains in the summer in SoCal.

Add the fact the Chiefs are a much better team.

It was a good game, the Chiefs look vastly improved over last year especially the defense congrats Jim and the Chiefs.

Ripper I wouldn't worry to much about the Chargers, they still looked pretty good and was right there on that final drive to even it up, even through the stout defense of the Chiefs, the crowd noise and pouring rain, a lot to overcome on the road.

The Chiefs surprised the hell out of me with that game. I realize the rain and the 12th man had something to do with it, but they dominated that game. A couple of great rookie performances as well.

The Chiefs are leading the AFC West for crying out loud!
