Ugly.

There you have it, my recap of today's game at Denver.

I'll be honest. My neighbor came over about halfway through the 4th quarter, and I turned off the TV, so I didn't see what happened for about the last eight minutes. But what I saw up to that point was enough for me.

I saw an offense that moved the bal well, then turned it over at critical times, especially in the first half. I saw a defense that again defended decently against the run, but allowed Kyle Orton to look like John Elway reincarnated. When I turned it off, Denver had converted 13 of 16 third downs. 13 of 16 is just sick-**** rediculous! Talk about not being able to get a team off the field!

I understand game conditions were tough. Fox showed the on-field thermometer at one point, and it read 120 degrees. That's brutal. But BOTH teams played in it, so no excuses there.

I can not understand why we gave Orton so much freakin' time back there. I only recall seeing one blitz, and of course Denver picked it up and Orton threw a TD pass. But by that time he had all the confidence in the world. And why not? No one had gotten anywhere near him all game!

One bright spot was the great punt return by Tate, setting up the 'Hawks first and only meaningful TD. But after the debacle on Denver's first punt (fumbled and turned over), a fair catch that was fielded cleanly would have been a marked improvement.

I'll say this - they will have their work cut out for them next week against Philip Rivers if they don't find a way to get some pressure on the QB.
