This thread is dedicated to the college football games played on Sept. 18, 2010. Please, feel free to post your observations. I ask that you keep it to college football, humor, and the like. Roots, raves, rants, and the usual expressions of fans caught up in the action are welcome.

Normally, I don't put these up until the Thursday or Friday before, but, I read much desire to discuss a number of games slated for this coming Saturday, so, the board's up early.

Questions to be answered

UGA vs Miss State - Which Bulldogs have the bite? Dawgs need the road win, and new HC Mullen wants a statement win at home.

Wake vs FSU - Seminoles need a victory at home to set the path through the ACC.

UCLA vs UTx - Has UCLA awakened? Do the 'Horns gore the Bruins and prime their mojo?

VT vs BC - Has the "good ship" Beamer righted itself? Who are BC this year, and what will be their impact?

OK vs Cinci - Will the Sooners boom? Can Cinci win at home against so formidable an opponent?

UAB vs UTK - At 1-2, UAB has the same record as the Vols and won a close one against Troy last week; can the Volunteers defeat this FBS foe in Neyland?

Nevada Rolls up 500 Yards offense and torches BYU's secondary, leaving questions about their independence or just running scared from a couple of WAC teams joining the MWC.

Alabama rolls over an over matched Arkansas team, showing once again a top heavy SEC and over rated mid tier SEC teams get too much ranking points.

UGA Loses at Miss state. No one really cares or is surprised.

Florida struggles through 3 quarters relying on defense until the offense makes 2 great plays which break open the game.

WVU plays a near perfect game surprising everyone and steam rolls LSU. And will lose next week.

Oregon State plays Boise state tough, but you just cant win on the smurf turf, Boise finishs them off on a last second field goal.

Why would this surprise everyone...WVU has a good team.

Somebody in the know breakdown WV vs LSU - how they match up, strengths to weaknesses, etc.

What WVU team have you been watching? Cause the one that barely snuck by marshall was not that good...

My takes:

No. UCLA is NOT a good team especially on offense. They score very few if any points, especially at Austin.

I think OU wins reasonably easily and they both roll into the RRSO. I have to agree with Venables that there is no reason to grade the run D from AFA. They won't be seeing the triple option again this year. Cincy has NOT looked good this year.

My brother is unconcerned about the RRSO which I really don't understand. I guess I give more weight to the win in Lubbock, not an easy place to play and holding down the TT offense looks good to me. Still doesn't seem that UT has found a running game which is a plus.

I guess I was looking at the team against Maryland, the Defense will have to step up.

BC could annonce themselves as the dark horse to win the ACC by defeating VT. Anyone with inside knowledge care to break this one down?

That's not a prediction... unfortunately.... that's reality.

Out to exorcise demons for 2nd straight week. Most recent trip to Lubbock before this past weekend ended with the Crabtree Catastrophe. This weekend UCLA comes to town. Their last trip to Austin was nothing short of an apocalyptic debacle. 5,000 to 3, or something like that. But that game did result in us getting Mack, so no hard feelings. Just lookin' for a little payback.

Was that the year UCLA wore the "Texas State Champs" t-shirts after bowl season? If I remember there was a year they beat Texas, AtM, and TT.

For the ACC as a whole it will look bad if VT wins a division...

Doggone, MG! Today, you've been sounding as if you cannot tell a lie... not even a little fib.

Come on JRM it was only '66 to 3'. Could have been worse.
