Hey. I think you are interjecting. smiles

The Big East being atrocious this year is perhaps my biggest surprise. The rise of the Dakotas. Locker falling out of the Heisman race so soon. Michigan's offense rolling full swing. I'm sure there are more, but these came to me first.

Given the turnover in personnel, Alabama is playing better than I expected this early in the season.

Lane Kiffin's bizarre high school style formations for PATs, and then going 2 for 7 on two point tries against stiffs like UVa and the Gophers. I'm all for innovation, but you have to execute. They'd be better off working on basics like tackling and pass coverage in practice.

ND picking up where they left off last season, dropping winnable, close games. That was the knock on Weiss, but it seems to be deeper in the program than just the head coach. (now watch them go out and hammer Stanford, just to prove me wrong :)

I'm not that surprised about VaTech losing, in retrospect. They played a tough game late on Monday night and then tried to play again on Saturday morning. Four days between games sounds like a recipe for a loss regardless of the opponent.

Great point. But, I just thought that James Madison would be the cure for what ailed them after losing a hard fought game to Boise.

I can see fatigue being an issue.

Seriously my surprise so far is the young running QBs Denard Robinson and Taylor Martinez. I love this aspect of CFB.

I've been in a continuous state of surprise and delight at BSU's and even TCU's lofty rankings in this early season. Win or lose, its already been a blast.

That I like. Those teams getting good rankings....

But alas, I havent watched much thanks to stupid school

The WAC. Fresno and Nevada both won games I thought they would lose (Cincy and CAL). It may be that Nevada is the best team that BSU plays all year and Nevada could end up being a legit 18-22 ranked team. Utah State has also performed well on the gridiron.

Agree with the BE comments too. If WVU loses as expected at LSU the only hope for BE ranking will be either Pitt beating Miami or Rutgers beating UNC. Both seem like longshots.

Why? The guy has done nothing but lose games at Washington. Sometimes, I think I'll never understand college football.

September 22, 2010  09:12 AM ET

Oh, and biggest surprise: the Oregon love. Lost their starting QB. A defense, that wasn't very good, replacing key starters. And they're coming off a Rose Bowl loss to a "choke" team.

However, running up the score on a bottom tier WAC team, an FCS team and a 7-6 SEC team that hired a guy who went 4-8 last year makes them championship material? GTFO.

September 22, 2010  09:25 AM ET

For me, the biggest surprise is the number of victories by FCS schools at FBS schools. It has been proven to me that the top 25 of the FCS are on par with middle tier FBS schools.

How does a Mr. Football for Alabama end up at a FCS school? With Bama, Auburn, and Troy in the state of Alabama all being in the FBS.

UF's D playing as well as they have, and the O su<cking as badly as they have (with little evidence of actual improvement game-to-game). Was expecting the opposite.

Have enjoyed the PAC-10 so far, have been paying more attention to their games this year, not sure why - probably because SC doesn't appear to be the lock they usually are.

Jake Locker struggling, I guess I had a sip of Sarkisian Kool-Aid.

Dang. Can't put one past BSB today. That catch might have happened pre-coffee, even.
