NFL  > Dallas Cowboys  > Props to Jat Ratliff for a downfield tackle vs Chicago

Just saw a recent article where Jay Ratliff's grandparents died this week in a house fire. Tragic for anyone and their family. Felt I had to tip my hat to a play made by Jay last week against Chicago that I have not seen in 20+ years.

Jay left his tackle position late in the game on a screen pass by Chicago to Hester and pursued the play way way downfield and made the tackle at the 3 yrd line. Yeah Sensabaugh was there to assist but my point is this guy NEVER gave up and followed this play 38 yrds downfield--he's a beast.

Last time I saw a Dallas tackle make such a play was Randy White chasing an Eagle WR from mid-field to tackle him inside the 5 yrd line. Most defensive tackles aren't making plays 40+ yrds downfield. I think you can see this clip on an ESPN "top 10 Cowboys" segment.

Ratliff plays with the same intensity and full-throttle engine that White played with. Ratliff is a monster on the inside and never gives up on a play. Great pursuit. May he continue to enjoy success and get through this difficult time with the loss of his grandparents.

Losing any family member that way is horrible, let's hope they died in their sleep and never knew what was happening.

Just read the story and unfortunately his Grandfather was a double amputee and his Grandmother tried to save him from the fire and they did not make it.

That sucks. Wouldn't wish that on anyone.
