Yeah...but he does realize that none of us are Heisman voters...

Or are we?

If we have any Heisman voters on the boards, my guess would be Sandy Underpants. He's the most unbiased on the boards.

As a Buckeye fan, it is bittersweet to see UM trying to be good again. I love seeing them down, but its more fun when they are up...

We shall see how good Shoelace is when he gets popped in the mouth a couple times, I'm hoping he keeps it up.

That would explain all those USC Heisman winners in recent years.

Robinson fits as a Heisman candidate, but rather than the best player, the Heisman has evolved to the best player on the best team. If the best player doesn't have a dominant player, then it goes to a dominant player on a serious contender.

I think Michigan would have to win the Big(11)Ten for Denard to get a play. As such, I like Pryor's chances a lot better.

Check.

The Heisman rarely goes to the best overall player, or the most valuable player.

September 24, 2010  01:49 AM ET

Example:

Ball State went 2-10 in 2004, and 4-7 in '05.

In 2006, Nate Davis started at QB.
Ball State then went 5-7, 7-6, and 12-2 over his 3 seasons.

Once Davis left in '09, Ball State fell back to 2-10.

If helping your team win 10 games that they wouldn't have won otherwise doesn't deserve winning the Heisman, then I don't what does.

What's Nate Davis doing these days, anyway?

CR- I wonder if there were any other players or coaches at Ball State for the same period as Davis. If so, how much credit should they share for the success of those teams?

It seems Heisman voters are of the mindset that no matter how good a player may be, if his team isn't a winner, neither is he. I don't think you can win a Heisman these days without one hell of a supporting cast, which runs counter to the idea that it's an individual award.

You guys forgot to add OFFENSIVE player. That's why I think that Pat Peterson doesn't have a chance. Look at Su (sp?) from Nebraska last year. I think he was very deserving but Bama was scheduled to play for it all...............

Exactly. The way Suh had to deal with double and triple teaming I thought he deserved it, but he finished way behind 3 offensive players. What surprised me was that Gerhart finished second on a 8-4 team.

So, CenLA, should I be watching for Peterson to be Defensive Player of the Year?
