NFL  > San Francisco 49ers  > THE WORST POSSIBLE SCENARIO 0-4
September 26, 2010, 06:01 PM
San Francisco will go into Atlanta scoring 4 TD's and 3 FG's one of those TD's came on the last play of the game against KC a game that was a blow out. Atlanta blew out the 49ers last year in SF so expect maybe a 70-3 defeat to Atlanta this year. I don't expect Singletary to bench Smith. Let us remember this season is no fluke because this is the kind of offense Singletary and Raye wanted to run and as we can see they know nothing about offense.

The Niners have looked horrible. At this point, I don't know if they will outplay the Falcons for most of the game and then give it away at the end or just get blown out by eleventy-seven points.

Thankfully the NFC West is horrible this year so they can still come back. But they need to play better. I have concerns that Singletary may have ridden his guys too hard and is now losing the team.

Sadly, Monday night hangover is one thing but they just put up a stinker and got Spanked by Matt Cassel.. Coaching changes need to be made, It's just not happening with Singletary!

According to Jason La Canfora the Niners have fired offensive coordinator Jimmy Raye.

That's a rather bold statement.. Arizona has taken a step back, thats obvious.. but you can't count out Fitzgerald in any game. Seattle is 2-1 with a strong defensive stand against the Chargers. Even the Rams are improving, McNabb and the Redskins are suspect but still aren't slouches. I'm not counting the 49ers out, but it won't be as easy as you'd think to come back..

That's a start... This team still has to be brought together.

Itsatrap is right, With the improvements the Seahawks and Rams are showing, Both coming off wins over the Chargers and Redskins it's not going to be easy to win against them as one thought

Well I'm surprised Raye is gone, am I glad ? yes. Will anything change in a week by promoting the QB coach Mike Johnson to Offensive Coordinator? Probably not. This is the guy who has probably been telling everyone at the 49ers that Alex Smith is the man, this is the guy who was responsible for correcting and developing any throwing problems Smith might have. Maybe he hasn't noticed how high and behind Smith throws the ball to his receivers, he blames the receivers for not being in tune with Smith, the receivers are the ones making Smith look good. I would say the 49ers should talk to Stanford head coach Jim Harbaugh to become their head coach after he wins the Rose Bowl.

Raye SUCKED!!! Even if the Niners finish the season 4-12, they will be better off for next year by dumping that dolt! I have no idea why he was back this year, I suppose so Smith didn't have to go through another OC????? Well, that is a moot point now! Good job!

you might say his playcalling was, offensive? ;)

Singletary deserves more time to turn this team around.

The house is on fire and Singletary refuses to dial 911, I think he is waiting for God to save the day.

September 30, 2010  01:58 AM ET

What am I looking forward to now? Well it is hard to imagine that Mike Johnson will be able to turn the 49er offense around. This is the last year of Alex Smiths contract. I'm kinda hoping that the 49ers have the worst record in the NFL so they get the first over all pick. Having the worst record would also force Jed York to clean house, from the top down.

Well, theres one problem

I picked the 49ers to run away with that division....now that Warner is gone from Arizona, and Seattle had some patchwork to do. What a difference a year makes I guess.

September 30, 2010  08:35 PM ET

I'm starting to think it's Seattle's division to lose, which they will try to do, but alas the team that is the worst as losing will end up winning....

October 2, 2010  06:37 AM ET

What can we say about Mike Johnson? He was once an interim OC under Wade Philips in Atlanta for 2 games before both were fired. Now he is the interim OC of the 49ers for possibly the remaining 13 games. Like his predecessor Jimmy Raye neither one has stayed with a team for more than 2 years. Like they said of the 49ers at the beginning of the season the NFC West was theirs to lose. Can the same be said of Mike Singletary and Mike Johnson? the job is theirs to lose. If the 49ers can't post a 8-8 record or better then fire them both.

October 2, 2010  04:04 PM ET

Somewhere in Louisiana Jamarcus Russell and Jimmy Raye are chompin on Oysters and shrimp and laughing at all of those that were willing to give them a job.

October 2, 2010  08:37 PM ET

Singletary will probably get them playing better before long. They played pretty well vs the Saints. Their season has been a little similar to Dallas at times. Better then their record. Only way Singletary gets fired is if he loses like 10-11 games. They'll end up like 8-8. A better home team then the road. they are gonna have to win a couple on the road because Atlanta beat them badly last year.

Singletary won't get fired but I believe Seattle is a better team.

Wow really? I think the Niners didn't know what to expect with the Seahawks because of the new coach. If you watched the Seattle win you'd know that SD special teams broke down and gave up two tds. Seattle kinda got lucky if you look at the yardage for the two teams. Seattle ends up like 6-10 or 7-9.

The 49ers are the best 0-4 team in the NFL. With 1/4 of the season over San Francisco is still only 2 games out of first, they are no worse off than the Colts who are themselves 2 games out of first. This is the second game they have played against a quality team (Saints and Falcons) only to lose those games in the final seconds. Next week the play the Eagles at home. The chances of them winning this game will be favorable if Michael Vick can't play due to injury.

Saying you are the best 0-4 team is like saying you are the best kicker on a legless soccer team. And comparing Sf to Indy is like comparing Alex Smith to Peyton. Alex Smith will never be a Pyeton Manning, and Peyton Manning will never have the word 'bust' following behind him.

Catch my drift?
