Boy, am I glad to be wrong today! I picked the Hawks to fall to the Chargers, primarily because I felt like we wouldn't get pressure on Rivers. That's the first place I was wrong. Secondly, I didn't think to mention our 'special' teams!

I expect Leon Washington will sleep well tonight after getting not one, but TWO kickoff returns for touchdowns today (101 and 99 yards). His returns, both in the second half, were no question the reason we're now 2-1. And two interceptions by rookie safety Earl Thomas, one of them on fourth down deep in our territory and the game on the line, were huge as well. Additionally, I thought we ran the ball pretty well, with Justin Forsett eating up some good yardage. But this game was not without its follies.

WTH HAPENNED AT THE END OF THE FIRST HALF?!?!?!

That's coaching 101. You've only got a few seconds left, and no timeouts. That means a pass play. Period. Throw it into the end zone for a TD or throw it away so the clock stops. Duh. SO we run a QB keeper and let time expire, getting no points? Dumb, dumb, dumb.

The other coaching question was why, after so much success getting pressure rushing four guys, would we suddenly start rushing only three. letting {Philip Rivers start picking us apart. Took was too long to revert back to rushing four. Oh, and could we please figure out who the opposition's best player is (Gates) and freakin' cover him for love of God?

But despite my rant there, the 'Hawks played hard, again defended well against the run, and got some great pressure on Rivers. And oh yeah, got a total of FIVE turnovers. Great, great job, guys.

Next up are two road games. The Rams, who looked impressive at Washington today, but are still a lowly 1-2. Then Chicago, playing fairly well and always a tough house to go win in.

GO 'HAWKS!
