NFL  > Pittsburgh Steelers  > Who Would Have Thought???

I didnt write my usual weekly thread last week because Rocker had already wrote one.. Thanks Rocker, I didnt want to be mean to the Bucs fans , But that game turned out as I had hoped

But this thread isnt my weekly thread, OH its coming, but this is just a Steelers thread in General.

I have been looking back at the past 3 games and am still in Awe of my team, I never thought at this point , with all the offseason issues and the Qb dropping like flies that my team would be 3-0 at this point. But guess what they are. And This fan is very happy.
So first off, I am going to point out, Charlie Batch , you are the man, you showed yesterday that you still got it and that if they would have released you that would have been a mistake. I know you have had your share of injuries but you still showed that you can run an offense. Our offense the first 2 games was non exsistent, But you get a week of practice under your belt and they look like the offense that we all know they are.

The offensive line deserves some love as well they played very well yesterday, even with the patches we had to put in, they didnt give up any sacks and opened some nice holes and throwed down some blocks that allowed Mendy to do his thing. Mendy getting 149 yrds and A TD showed they are getting it done. ANd the best thing, NO PENALTIES>>>>hehe Great Job.

Our Recievers, Hines showed why we love him, Heath was again in the right place at the right time, and El finally caught a pass, But I am now going to say it and I know there are people that wondered why we got rid of Tone, but I am saying Tone Who, Mike wallace is proving that he was that diamond in the rough that Colbert always seems to find our team.... Wallace you are the man...

Our defense What can you say, they are one of the best units right now IMO , they showed that they are the defense that we all know and love , wrecking havoc and causing destruction in thier wake. The whole defense deserves some love , they have played as the unit of old. I dont see them slowing down, but a shout out to one of my favorite DE Keisel. Congrats on getting your first INT AND TD, that was a thing of beauty. That showed that our old aging D is still a force to be reckoned with.
So now we get through this week and then we have our bye week and our second season begins when Ben returns, even if we drop this game against the Ravens our team has nothing to be ashamed of. We have played well and we played as a team and we need to continue to do so when Ben returns, because with our D and Ben back under center the sky is the limit.... I for one cannot wait.

The O-Line finally looks good after a few years of being horrible. I don't know why everyone always doubts Batch, the guy can play. It makes me mad! And you are so right about Wallace, this can be our go to receiver for years to come, even after Ward retires.

They did play Well Rocker and , Yes Charlie can still play and he showed he can still escape and run as well. That is what aggrevated me, when they were talking about cutting him. And yes I think Wallace will be with us for a long time, He is really coming along nicely....

My guess is that a lot of fans in the Burgh are not nearly as surprised as those of other teams. Not saying this isn't a pleasant surprise, but I think this team was better than a lot gave them credit for being.

I thought the Steelers would do fine until Ben came back and congrats to you BBT and Jack and all Steeler fans, a lesser team would have rolled over but a good team finds a way to win.

I agree LGP, they are better than they were given credit for and was underrated , but now the same media that underrated them is singing thier praises, They proved all the doubters wrong and us fans already knew they would.

Thanks GSH, Like the Avy, LOL That is true, good teams find a way and we found a way, I think what helped is we had all offseason to prepare , because we knew we were going to be without Ben, and it is working so far, only have one more week and then the rest of the season starts...

Good luck to your Bears tonight I am pulling for them. :)

LMAO at all the idiot talking heads in the media, including that flip-flopping Bettis! When Ben was railroaded by Goodell in the Spring, EVERYONE in the media pool was singing Pittsburgh's swan song. Nobody had them higher than 3rd in the AFCN. The Browns2.0 and Bungles, with all their offseason FA moves, dominated the AFCN discussions...even to the point of picking one/other of them to represent the AFC in the SB....

Now that everyone is finally listening to all of us in Steeler Nation that had pointed out the losses of Polamalu/Smith, and to an extent, McFadden, as the main reason for last year's defensive struggles, those same idiots are practically falling over themselves anointing the D as the new SteelCurtain and these self-same Steelers as the team to beat in the AFC, once Ben returns!!! Although I personally think the collection of players we have constitutes a very cohesive and flexible squad, this is NOT any different than what I thought after the OTAs this Spring.

Why be suprised about the Steelers 3-0 start when the D has everybody back from 2008, with a few significant improvements from that squad, namely, quality backups on the DL and backfield, and a significantly improved Lawrence Timmons? If he continues to fulfill his upside, there might be a revision in NFL history as to who was the best "LT...."

My only concern is that Bruce Arians will return to his pass-happy offensive game plan, when it clearly has been evident that Mendenhall & Co. can be very effective at grinding out the yds and eating up the clock, keping our D well rested. This past week was the best called game since the blowout of the Chargers last year, with a good mix of both run & pass. Running the ball more will also likely decrease the # of sacks/hits that #7 takes and prolong his HOF career a few years.

Just shows that they DO need Ben. They D has been fantastic but how long are they going to go this year with a fourth string, 35 year old quarterback. Be realistic and quit beating a dead horse already!!
