GUATEMALA CITY - Costa Rica will face El Salvador and Nicaragua while Guatemala, Honduras and Panama will face off to determine Central America's five berths in the CONCACAF Under-17 Championship.

Group 1 will play in Heredia, Costa Rica, October 26-30 while Group 2 will be staged in Antigua, Guatemala, November 10-14.

Two teams from each three-team group will advance to the CONCACAF Championship in Jamaica February 14-27.

The two third-place teams will meet in a two-leg playoff in late November to decide the region's fifth and final place.

Central America originally was allocated four berths in the CONCACAF Under-17 Championship, while the Caribbean was granted five and North America three: Canada, Mexico and the United States.

But with Mexico already chosen as host of the 2011 Under-17 World Cup, and therefore granted an automatic berth in the field, the CONCACAF Executive Committee re-allocated its spot to Central America.
