NCAAF  > Arkansas Razorbacks  > Arkansas Football is in dire need!!!

We know that with guys like Ryan Mallet and Tyler Wilson, the Bobby Petrino pro-style offense is going to light up the scoreboard.

But what is even more important for next year (2011-2012) is that the Razorbacks recruit 'Blue Chip' running backs that can gain that crucial 3.5 to 5.0 yard gains on first and second downs.

An Achilles heal for the Razorbacks is converting on 3rd Down - heck, Bobby Petrino goes for it on 4th Down.

The Hogs need backs similar to McFadden and Felix Jones; game breakers that alleviate pressure on the offense by gaining those small chunks of yard and be able to pick up SEC blitz's.

Until that day comes, an SEC Title is a long shot.

"Dire need" is a strange way to describe the state of a team currently ranked 11th in the AP, which just over a week ago came extremely close to toppling the team ranked first. The Razorbacks have a very strong offensive line, which is the foundation of so many good offenses. They have a great quarterback with fast and able receivers. The defense held Alabama to 7 points in the first 40 minutes of last week's game. Beat Auburn and South Carolina, and we might see some Hogs in the Sugar Bowl for the first time since they joined the SEC. Arkansas has finished in the top 15 twice in the last 22 years, but they will probably end up in the top 10 this year.
This is a good year - the best in decades. Try to enjoy it a little.

Any hog fan knows how fast a season can fall apart for us. It could happen at any time against any one, especially w/o a running game.

Agree with GLS. Enjoy the season. You have the tools to make it through the rest of your schedule relatively unscathed. It says a lot for the team that despite the one loss that they are still ranked so highly. Definitely think that you can take down Auburn and LSU.
