Is it just me or Brendan Schaub is about to get worked against Gabriel Gonzaga? Is he moving up too fast in the ufc? Gabriel is no push over.

When I saw the match up I was thinking it too early for BS to fight a guy like GG, GG has been around the block and knows he has to win this next fight or it may be his last in the ufc. GG will bring is A game, not to sure about Brendon.

I usually call it a "kimura", even if in MMA in the USA everyone calls it an "americana".

But we're talking about the same thing, basically.

does it make a difference on what you call it based on which direction you press the arm?

Yes.

The "Keylock" or "Americana" is a traditional Ude Garame in Judo and Jiu-Jitsu.

A "Kimura" is a reverse Ude Garame.

A kimura is like a hammerlock variation: you put the opponents hand on their back and then try to touch their hand to their own head.

With a Keylock you hold the shoulder near the head and drive the hand toward their hip.

For instance, Heath Herring submitted Sobalev Dennis with a keylock, Sakuraba subbed Royle Gracie with a kimura.

I knew the techniques but always got the 2 mixed up somehow based on the TV camera angles of just taking Mike Goldbergs word for it. Stupid me!

Like Clouis explained, both are different.

I personally always call it a kimura, be it from the mount, side control, half-guard or full guard.

I see Schaub winning

I think Schaub is in big trouble. Gonzaga is a huge step up in competition. That being said, I don't mind the jump up in competition. I like seeing big prospects (which I think Schaub is) facing tough gatekeepers to see how far there game has developed.
