Dawn brought up the point that pro sports have become so corrupt and money grabbing that there are few people in it for the purity of their sport. I only see a few people in pro sports anymore that I would say are pure sportsmen. Josh Hamilton in the MLB lost it all to a drug addiction, cleaned himself up, and are now one of the premier baseball players and he always talks about how grateful he is at his second chance. Tom Brady seems like your classic QB and I rarely see him trash other players and he doesn't brag about himself much. Any other people in pro sports that are still active and seem to be pure sportsmen? Owners, players, and coaches all count!

Is Albert Bell still playing? jk

Drew Brees seems pretty humble, especially after the way San Diego gave him the boot. If he wasn't in Cali, he is right now--team/fans first.

I didn't think of him, but you are right. He is very humble and seems like a good guy.

Even on your Steelers team I would say that Hines Ward is in that same callaber.

Someone beat me to nominating Drew Brees, Peyton Manning is also loyal and dedicated to the sport and his team and I would look for him to enter into the coaching ranks after his career is over.

He can be a loud mouth sometimes though. The Rooney family would make my list though. They have made a career off of integrity which surprised me when they didn't give Ben the boot.

Peyton would be the best offensive coordinator in the league. Then after a few years he will definitely make it to the head coaching position.

Any team. They would all be at his disposal. That's a lot of brain in that giant mellon of his.

Tony Dungy for sure and Brady, and Manning... I am sure there are more but what's happening to the NFL, especially during a rotten economy, is so wrong. They should be giving back more to their communities and fans. The fans show all the loyalty but what loyalty has the NFL shown us????

Dungy doesn't count, he's retire ;). Lol, but no I have the most respect for Dungy. He is what a coach should be and I also like all of his charity work and how he does not even attempt to hide his faith. Stand up guy!

You cannot put everyone in the same boat...there are players/coaches that give a lot back to their communities/fans/charities. It's not all about the money, 100% of the time for every single player. Maybe the majority, but not everybody. There are still good, decent people playing in the NFL who show high levels of character; however, those are the stories that the media do not exploit.

Media does it everywhere. The economy, war, pretty much everything. That's why I quit watching war coverage, they always say the negative and hardly ever mention anything good happening in the Middle East. I know vets from the wars and they say there is good happening too, the media just chooses to stay with doom and gloom because that's what sells and it pushes their agendas.

I hate to admit it but I'm a Detroit Lion fan. I've really had nothing to cheer for except when Barry Sanders was playing. I'm glad to be joining Fannation.

Nice to have you! Please don't troll because the more respectful people the better :) Good luck this season!

In the NFL every team comes back after a while, even if it does take a decade

October 7, 2010  02:29 PM ET

Nnamdi Asomugha. Plays for a team that everyone continually makes fun of, but never complains and is extremely charitable. All around great guy.

Ma'am,I don't know what sport He's playing in,but ifn You Say He's cool?,That's good enough for Me.

He plays cornerback for the Raiders. He's very down to earth and spends a ton of his off time doing charity work. He makes a ton of money - but he remains humble and gives back.
