And it's time for my weekly beatdown of the Browns coaching staff. Rob Ryan actually redeemed himself somewhat. By playing coverage down in the Red Zone it kept Atlanta out of there. Their only offensive touchdown came from 40 yards out on a play fake.
Brian Daboll on the other hand cemented his status in my eyes as a bad coach. He's the worst kind of coach. Peyton was obviously hurting and couldn't give the same effort. The Browns abandoned the run and went pass wacky. That proves that Daboll is a coach without an identity or a philosophy. His plays work ONLY when he has the players to make him look good. A real offensive coordinator would have sat Hillis and ran the ball 40 times with Jerome Harrison and James Davis anyway. He would have done that because that is the Browns identity and the basis of his offense. Daboll has no identity, no philosophy, no patience. He is not an offensive coordinator. Period.

Ditto.

Another thing about Daboll: if you are going to use 3, 4, 5 wide receivers and a QB with a bad ankle, why would you ever start him UNDER center when he clearly cannot move?

I do have to give props to the defense despite the two big plays. You knew Roddy White was going to break out somehow. And besides that long run, Turner had the quietest 140 yds I've ever seen. I hate to say it and injuries have to do with it, but I think I rather see Wallace in there.

I am all for Wallace as the starter. Jake is trying to force things to happen, but Wallace reads the play and makes smarter decisions.

YEP YEP YEP - here's some stats that back this up
WALLACE:
Week two - 16 for 31 with a TD and interception - his worst game
Week Three - 16 for 24 (75%) with a TD against BALTIMORE! (Secondary terrible)
Week Four - 18 for 30 (60%) with a TD and Interception agains Cinci - but we WON (secondary terrible)
Week five - 11 for 15 (73%) a TD (actually two - that first throw was a TD too) and he left injured.
He is managing the game well and with Hillis healthy it's actually a very fun to watch combo. We need to find another deep threat though!

I almost forgot about that due to the fact I was so ticked that JD was still in the game in the 4th quarter....thanks for not challenging that one.

seriously... HOW DO YOU NOT CHALLANGE THAT?!?
It would have been a close call because they would have to decide if he had possession when the first foot hit the ground, but it was definitely worth a second look!

Double ditto!
I think that armed with just your common sense, You would make a better offensive coordinator than Daboll. Occasionally he looks like he might know what he is doing, then he gets thrown a curve ball and falls flat on his face. It is then apparent that, as you said, a few of his better players make him look good. His game plan consists of "do what works". When it quits working, he is lost.
