KINGSTOWN, St. Vincent - St. Kitts & Nevis and St. Vincent & the Grenadines advanced to the second round of Caribbean Cup on Sunday, finishing atop Group B based on head-to-head results and eliminating Barbados.

St. Kitts defeated Montserrat 4-0, and St. Vincent drew 0-0 with Barbados, leaving St. Kitts, St. Vincent and Barbados all tied with five points.

But St. Kitts scored a total of two goals in games against St. Vincent and Barbados - a pair of 1-1 draws, while St. Vincent and Barbados managed only one in their games against the three teams. That left St. Kitts atop the group, while St. Vincent edged out Barbados on goal difference in all games in the group.

The results send St. Kitts to join host Grenada, Guadeloupe and Puerto Rico in Group E, which will play October 20-24. Assured of finishing ahead of the Group A runner-up Cayman Islands, St. Vincent advances to play in either Group F in Trinidad against the Soca Warriors, Haiti and the Group C winner November 2-6, or in Group G November 10-14 against host Antigua & Barbuda, Cuba and the Group D winner.

In the early game, Alexis Saddler scored twice in the first 32 minutes and let St. Kitts past Montserrat. Keith Gumbs and Ian Lake also scored for St. Kitts, while goalkeeper Akil Byron withstood eight shots to earn the shutout.

Later, Barbados' Friday hero Norman Forde was one of four players ejected, resulting in a match that ended nine-on-nine.

Netherlands Antilles referee Javier Jauregui first sent off St. Vincent's Emerald George with his second yellow card in the 69th. Forde, who had two goals in Bajans 5-0 victory over Montserrat, followed along with St. Vincent's Keith James 20 minutes later in an off-the-ball incident.

Barbados' John Parris was expelled a minute later after a foul on St. Vincent keeper Dwayne Sandy. Barbados keeper Alvin Rouse completed the flurry of cards with a post-match red for challenging Jauregui.
