NFL  > General NFL  > Is there a perfect storm brewing in Pittsburgh this week?

This is Ben's first game back.

It's also at home vs. the Browns - who have not been playing good ball all year.

Our D has been playing off the hook thus far.

And now the Browns have named Colt McCoy as their starting QB.

Again....

The Browns have named Colt McCoy as their starting QB?! Really?!

So his first career start is going to be against Dick LeBeau's meat grinder defense?!

I'm thinking at least 4 sacks and 2 INT's.

This could get ugly folks....

Bad game for McCoy to start out with. The Steelers are going to destroy the Browns. It's a good chance to get Ben's confidence up though!

Our D confuses guys like Payton Manning and Tom Brady - Colt has never seen a regular defense in the NFL, much less the stuff that Dick LeBeau comes up with. All those guys drifting near the line, then dropping off, then floating over....then at the snap it's something we didn't show you. Pressure coming from areas you never thought it would.

Oh, and I read that their RB Hillis is out as well.

Not that it matters....I can't remember the last time a RB got 100 yards on our defense anyway.

Actually that would be the Browns, from last year.

ummm,..........when's the last time your steelers played the patriots ?.......i think the patriots were all-over your team [at gillette a couple yrs. ago ?] .

We last played the Pats in '08, and we stomped them, but they didn't have Brady. We last owned the Pats with Brady on Halloween of '04 in Pittsburgh. They had 5 yards rushing total, we picked off Brady twice and sacked him 4 times, had 2 forced fumbles and 42 minutes in TOP.

Does that include KR yds? I don't think Cribbs rushed for over 100......plus he's not a RB...

Anyway, THAT was last year......it would appear that our $100M QB has found religion ( or at least some re-focus ) and the rest of the team appears seriously pissed at being written off by practically every sports talking head before the season even started.....THIS does not bode well for young Colt and the rest of the Brownies......Leftwich may have a chance to play this season after all...once Ben is done for the day...EARLY. LOL!

LOL, yea the Steelers don't necessarily confuse Brady...we don't have much luck against the Pats.

I'm a Steelers fan here, but ...What about the distinct possibility of Ben being a bit rusty? He has to get re-accustomed to game speed and get timing down with his receivers after the off-season and the time out Goodel gave him.He may not be ... however good he's going to be this year ... until mid-season.

Supposedly he's been doing real good in practice, so I guess we will see on Sunday.

A husband and wife are shopping in their local Wal-Mart. The husband picks up a case of Budweiser and puts it in their cart. 'What do you think you're doing?' asks the wife. 'They're on sale, only $10 for 24 cans he replies. 'Put them back, we can't afford them demands the wife, and so they carry on shopping.A few aisles further on along the woman picks up a $20 jar of face cream and puts it in the basket. What do you think you're doing?' asks the husband. 'It's my face cream. It makes me look beautiful,' replies the wife. Her husband retorts: 'So does 24 cans of Budweiser and it's half the price.'

Haha, good one Dawn!

We do just fine when they don't have a truckload of film on our signals...

Really had nothing to do with it...

First, they came out throwing and our D was all over Brady like a hooker at a truck stop.

Second, we've always done a great job stopping RB's. Dillon was no different.

That was the same year they had the truckload of film on "us," right? Maybe it had something to do with the team's execution as well. That same year, the same team got pushed around when it really counted. I'm all for making sure that folks remember that the Patriots got caught cheating the system, but it's pretty cheap to crow about one victory and claim the loss was due to cheating. It sounds hollow. The truth, as always, lies somewhere in the middle.

Unless of course they taped the game where we owned them and used it later in the year.

That would make sense too, right?

When Hines Ward is saying that their D was calling out the names of the plays they were about to run.

Baltimore, San Diego, Colts and the Jets will be tough in the playoffs.

The only reason to be optimistic for a Browns fan is that it looks like such a slam dunk and this year that has been the kiss of death to teams. Just ask the Cowboys and Chargers fans. It's been that kind of crazy in the NFL this year.
